hey guys, i was wondering what you guys thought of browning abolts? I prefer 30-06, or a .308. Or if you know of some other freakin sweet -06's let me know.

everybody loves them ummm i had an a-BOLT in 300wsm i grouped pretty good just not as good as i thought it should for the money i spent on it.....i sold it bought a 700 it groupes awsome

700's do the work in my arsenal. And I own every major mfg including high dollar Sako, Cooper, Weatherby stuff. When I want something simple, familiar, accurate, reliable, with the best triggers(Jewell, Timney) to use for competition or hunting it's usually a 700.

I have an A-bolt stainless stalker 30-06 and it groups very well. I'm quite happy with it. Paid $700 for like new and that included a Leupold VX1. Its been my foul weather elk gun, and have never had a problem with it. My fair weather bolt gun is a Tikka 695. They both shoot comparable groups, a little under MOA.

Though I don't own them all, nor I have I shot them all, I do own a Remington 700 SPS, with the detachable magazine, in .30-06.

It shoots well (better than I can). I'd purchase another if something happened to mine.

I love the A-bolt rifles. I have 5 total. My favorite is a 270WSM in A-bolt Composite Stalker. I personally like the feel of the Browning over the other selections. However, they are all good guns. Pick what fits you best and works for you.

The A-Bolt is a great rifle. I have one in 30.06 and it is one of my favorite hunting rifles. I sold my model 700 in 30.06 after I bought my A-Bolt.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the mod 700 a lot but the A-Bolt was a very nice upgrade.

Cz 30-06. CZ makes a great accurate rifle with a mauser action. You can't beat a mauser action in terms of durability... They also come stock with farely good triggers.

I didn't vote, because, well I like them all! I own an A-bolt in .243, a 700 in 7mm-08 and a Garand in 30-06 (of course). I'd love to own one of the others as well. My Dad has a Springfield 1903 which is a family heirloom. I'd say get what fits you best, they're all good rifles.

Browning A-bolt is my perfect hunting rifle. Its light, accurate, and reliable. It points fast like a good shotgun for me. The 60` bolt throw is nice. Mine is a 270, but there aint nothing wrong the 06 or 308.

nothing wrong at all with the a bolt, but make mine a 700! grew up with one and still do all of my deer hunting with it. it is more accurate than i am. it is the mountain rifle with detachable magazine in .270 win. great little hunting rifle.

i have shot a browning abolt 300. I agree, that browning does feel nice. I would just use this for hunting, here is the picture of me with that abolt. me with a-bolt.JPG

ok. my friend is a ****, and says not to buy an 06, but a .308 instead, should i listen to him? or say to hell with it.

That is more than enough fodder to get a good caliber war going.

My take is that it doesn't make any practical difference whether you choose the '06 or the .308 - it really boils down to which one you can get the best deal on and whether your already reload for one or the other.

yah, my dad is big into reloading, and has all the gear for it. How much generally is it, just to buy it though? Compared to .308

for the money.......MARLIN XL7 done finished its awsome i love mine and there are guys shooting just over .5 moa (.56" at 100 is the best ive heard so far) on a $300 rifle with handloads

Of the rifles you listed I voted Vanguard, and would say Remington with a close 2nd.

I actually like the Ruger best, regardless of value for the money. Tikka would be 2nd then Vanguard and Remington.

I have a question. What are the restrictions that obama will be putting on guns? is he just gunna take them all away? or will he just jack everything up.

Since the question included the phrase "for the money" I voted for the Weatherby Vangard(Howa). All of the choices are excellent choices but the Vangard usually costs much less than most of the others. As to the Browning A-bolt,I had two of them,a .280 Remington and a 7mmRem.Mag. Nice rifles.
