I don’t use optics on mine but the Belgium ones were grooved on the receiver for mounting.

While the Japanese barrels are drilled and tapped for a cantilever mount.

This isn't true, mine is Belgium made and the receiver is NOT grooved,

The later Belgian made ones were not grooved, the barrels were drilled and taped to fit a cantilever mount. The grooved receiver rifles with scopes are vicinity accurate at best. I took the scope off mine, it’s more accurate with the iron sights. Thought many times of having my barrel drilled and tapped. Instead I’ve bought 4 or 5 other 22 rimfires that are not takedown rifles, they shoot much better, especially the CZ. You just can’t get the barrel tight enough to make them shoot well with a receiver scope mount. You can break the forearm trying though!
