I have a broken "finger" on the extractor for my Japanese-made Browning .22 auto. I see that Browning has the part listed as being available for order. Can anyone give me advise as to how to remove the broken part (i.e., the bolt from the trigger group and the extractor from the bolt) and replace-----or is this something best left to a smith? TIA! Here's a link to the user's manual -

I've had mine apart 20 times or so, and it gets easier with practice. There are some springs involved, and it might be a good idea to work inside a big white plastic garbage bag the first few times, to capture springs that get away from you. (The white bag lets more light through...) Wear eye protection.

It is one of John Browning's best designs, IMO. You can completely field-strip the bolt without any tools, so don't try prying on something with a screwdriver. Just follow the instructions and you can take it apart to clean it thoroughly or replace parts.

dmazur,

I've never had the instruction book in this format, was never in the box when purchased. THANK YOU sir for posting this PDF, what a life saver you are! My Browning isn't in this dire a need for cleaning, but now I have this to take care of it when I do. This forum web site is awesome, the folks on here are a true pleasure to chat with, thanks again for sharing, you've made life easier.

Glad I could be of some help.

I've learned a lot from this forum...just trying to "pay it forward". :)
