Does anyone know of a clip conversion kit for the BAR? I have seen one for the Remington 7400. I am considering both rifles in 30.06 and prefer the BAR but don't like the limited capacity.
For that matter the remignton 742 and 7400's were not made for a lot of shooting - but they are accurate and reliable with a little tlc. Just keep the chamber clean for optimum reliability.
and forget those jamamatic Remingtons!......I kid you not, I have seen no less than five of those things, from a spanking new .280 to a friends '06 do everything from failure to feed to ripping off the extractor!!!!....the '06 has been to the factory at least twice and the friend even got an attorney involved............I STILL don't know if that piece of crap works.....The Brownings are head and shoulders better than ANY of the Remington guns and the reliability is simply there.
If you do buy one of the big R's....and you have to send it to the factory for repair then be sure you specify that it be repaired in house.....My buddy with the '06 found his'd farmed out to a local smith near the big R factory!
Nice design, snappy handling, crappy, crappy execution with too many flimsy stamped parts.....
Even with no hi cap mag, the Browning is the better choice....
None available that I know of. The magazine actually sits on the bottom plate, it doesn't clip into place inside the action so this would be a very difficult conversion.
I've been wondering this for quite sometime. It would probably have to be permanently attached (you'd have to load it through the action).
You'd also have to get magazines that are wider than that of an M1A, FAL, or G3. Like, a magazine from a real Browning Automatic Rifle would be a good start I think.
