Might have put this in the wrong forum earlier, will try here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a Browning Buckmark 4" round barrel that I shot for the first time today. Started with American Eagle ammo. Terrible results with loading and ejecting. Switched to Remington Thunderbolt. No problems at all.

Has anyone had any luck with anything besides Remington? What are your recommendations?

I was having similar problems with mine. It was stovepiping on every other shot. When I was cleaning it I found the barrel was a little loose. After snugging it down the problems went away.

Start with your pistol clean, tight, and well lubed.
Most .22 auto loaders are a bit picky about ammo, in both the reliability and accuracy departments. In addition, your pistol might not be broken-in yet.
Most .22LR ammo is very cheap, so try a bunch of different brands and loadings to see which your's likes best. My Buckmark is partial to Winch. Dynapoints.

Ive had problems with the cheap bulk stuff also. I havent had a bit of problems with mini-mags. Its my favorite.

I just got a 5.5" Camper pretty recently. I fed it a box of 500 rounds of Federal Lightning and no problems feeding/extracting/ejecting. I did have a few failures to fire that I blame on the primer. I rotated the cartridge and they all fired.

Tonight, I put 300 rounds of Thunderbolt through it. Only one failure to fire (rotated, worked the second time), and no feeding/extracting/ejecting problems.

So it's still pretty new, but it's looking good so far.

I have 2 Buckmarks, a old standard and a Target model. Neither one likes Federal ammo, not even the expensive $5+ a box match stuff. They both shoot the cheap Remington Golden HP's well. For Bullseye shooting I like Winchester standard velocity T-22, Wolf Match, or Winchester Dynapoints and Aquilla pistol match isn't too bad either. Both shoot the Remington Thunderbolts well too but they're so unreliable I don't use them much. The Thunderbolts have a lot of priming problems and I get too many missfires.

I have also had trouble with Federal Ammo (Lightning and Champion) in a Camper. Would get 1-2 stovepipes per mag. Remington Golden Bullets functioned much better, though I would get an occasional failure to fire. (I should note that I also get FTF's with the Remington in some Rugers, too. Don't know if it's hard brass or poor distribution of primer in the rim of the case. The firing pin marks are certainly adequate).

I've owned two browning buckmarks and both of them would run Remington Thunderbolt pretty well. The golden bullet stuff seems to have dropped off in quality in the last few years because it just jammed & Misfired in all my guns. Without a doubt the single most accurate .22LR loading for my buckmarks was the Aguila Sniper Subsonic. They don't look like they'd work well in an auto but holy cow they made the guns shoot like never before!

I've tried many different loads in my Buckmark, and found that for me, Winchester SuperX functions flawlessly, and is more accurate than anything else out there.

I quit looking.

For me, CCI Standard velocity works great in Buckmark. No problems and very accurate.:)

I use Remington Eley Target Rifle for bullseye matches, Federal copper splashed, CCI standard or Federal Gold Match for practice.

Hey, one question - I've had my buckmark only 1 week (the 4" Camper version) - and I've shot it one time. But I cleaned it before and after I shot it. And each time, I CANNOT get that polymer firing pin assembly (with the guiderod) out of the slide - It's stuck in there - despite the instructions showing that it just easily comes out.

Anyone having any problems removing that part?
