Browning Buckmark and CCI Stingers

I picked up a new Buckmark last week. When I went to buy ammo, the owner of the store said to be careful with the buckmark and CCI stingers. He implied that there was a KB problem with that ammo. Has anyone had any experience or heard about this? I don't believe myself. There's nothing in the manual about ammo selection.

I have a Buckmark and so does a shooting buddy. He shoots stingers in his and I've not seen a problem. They make quite an impressive fire ball out the muzzle! This is a standard model of Buckmark, not a short barrel version.

I've never tried them because my ammo selections have been satisfactory and I can't see the expense of the stingers. If I depended on the Buckmark for home defense I wouldn't hesitate to load it with stingers.

I believe Stingers use a slightly longer case than standard .22lr - Ruger warns of their use in the 10/22. If the buckmark chamber isn't cut large enough to handle the longer case, I'd guess you could fire one out of battery. Best bet would be to call Browning.

I have a Buckmark and no problem with several hundred stingers.

I use stingers in Buckmark for bowling pins matches. Never had a problem.

True that the Stinger has a slightly longer case but the .22 Long Rifle cartridge uses an outside lubricated bullet that is the same diameter so chamber length is not a problem.
The problem comes from shooting Stingers from a dirty chamber. Somewhat akin to shooting .38 Specials in your .357 and then shooting magnum loads. Fouling in the chamber can cause hard extaction or feeding problem. Cheap ammo loaded "black" bullets are usually more to blame.

The disconnector in your Buckmark should not allow the gun to fire unless the bolt is fully closed.

I'm no expert in chamber pressures and such, but I have a tough time imagining a .22 LR causing a KB unless the barrel is blocked.

I've put thousands of the things through mine without a problem. This is the first I ever heard of an issue with them.
