I took my new (<500 rounds though it) Browning Buckmark Camper for a trip to the woods for some shooting fun with some friends. We shot at some targets for a while, then decided to cross the creek and take a walk thought the trees on the other side and maybe shot some squirrels along the way. So to make a long story short we found a downed log we could use to cross the creek when it was my turn to cross my foot slipped on the log and I took a fall into the creek (gun was unloaded, mag removed and holstered). When I got up I looked down at my new gun to see the whole right side of my body covered in very fine mud. The holster and gun was filled with it, I removed the gun form the holster and got as much of the mud off the gun in the water of the creek. We left immediately after, when I got home I began to disassemble the pistol cleaning and oiling it form head to toe after a good bit of time, half a can of one shot gun cleaner, a few of those little pipe cleaners and a new toothbrush the action, sear, recoil spring was running good as new but, the trigger and slide stop and safety still felt and sounded gritty. So I removed the grip screws and began to peal the grips off when most the springs came flying out. I found all the pieces I could find and set them aside removed the slide stop and began cleaning out all the grit after that was done and it was ready to get put back together I realized that I had never seen the correct position of all springs especially the magazine latch spring. So I put it back the way it seemed logical. After putting the grips back on my magazine release seemed really easy to push. I tried cycling some rounds though the gun. I pulled the slide back lifted the slide stop inserted a magazine and pressed the slide stop down when did that the slide slammed forward (as it should) but the magazine fell out. So please have a look at the picture and see if the parts are in there right places or if something is missing. The diagrams and dis assembly instructions I have found on the internet have been less than helpful so far. Any help would be help would be appreciated.

I opened mine up to see, but it is a little different. It does have the little flat leaf spring like yours that puts pressure on the mag release, which did fall out and eluded me for a minute. Notice it is missing in the pic. I figured that out after I put it back together. It fell in the chair and hid between the seat and the back. You may have it backwards. There is a slight curve to it.

I put the grips back on it one time before I tried cycling the action. I think I had it (magazine latch spring)upside down that time. When I tightened the grip screws it seems that it flattened the spring which created this problem. I finally found a picture of the magazine latch spring by itself and that one had way more curve than mine. So I took the magazine catch out pressed the spring so it matched the depth of the cut it the frame. put it all back together and it seems to be much better now(can't make the magazine pop out by pressing the slide release). I have to try shooting it to see if it comes out under recoil. The next time I order some gun stuff I will just get a new spring there only like 3.79 on Midway USA. Until then I am considering the problem fixed. All the diagrams I found on the internet were of the different style (older ?). So mine already had more parts than the Diagrams. I read the dis assembly section of the manual just in time to see "do not remove the grips" thinking oh **** it's to late for that now! If they just had a picture in the manual it would be nice, It's really not that hard to put back together. Thanks for the pic and advice Walkalong.
