We just received my step-son's Browning Buckmark which he inherited from his father. Before firing it I dissasembled it for cleaning and to double-check the condition.
As I took the slide off some very small, soft pieces fell off. After studing the pistol and the diagram in the Gun Parts catalog I determined that the buffer on the rear slide post had disintegrated. Most of it is gone except for the part which goes into the hole on the rear post. What is left there seems to be stuck in the hole.
Is this gun safe to be fired without this buffer in place? Has anyone else had problems with this piece?
Thanks in advance for your help.
