I've got a Challenger II and a III. The extractor on the II has a little chip off the bottom and is starting to exhibit some extraction problems. The chamber has to be imaculate to have reliable extraction these days where it used to shoot all day with anything you fed it, dirty, clean, it didn't matter.
My question is, does anybody know if the Buckmark extractor is the same as the earlier Challengers? I can see that the III is the same as the II. I've found the Buckmark extractor, spring plunger and spring at Midway for about 15 bucks. Nobody seems to have any specific II or III parts left.
Seems unlikely Browning would attempt to re-invent the wheel and re-design the extractor when everything is done to cut costs these days.
I might just go ahead and order it from Midway. I've wasted money on considerably less before, but still.....
Does anybody know for sure?

The best way to find out is call here:

Browning Service Department

Very likely they will have what you need one way or the other.

Instead of wasting a long distance call to Browning I'll probably just call MGW or Commemorative Arms. The guy at CA suppposedly bought all of Browning's spare parts back in 1983. Strictly going by the picture at Midway, it's not the same. Close enough that it might be made to work, though. The same parts at CA will be 50 bucks plus shipping. Life is good if you're the only one with something!!
Browning doesn't appear to be interested in supporting any of their older guns.

Upon a closer look at my extractor it appears that it's not chipped but simply beveled to facilitate the rim sliding under it better. I think I'll chuck up a bore brush and clean the bejesus out of the chamber. It's been quite a while since I gave it a little TLC. It just kept on shooting so I just kept on shooting it.
