Browning HP Vs HK USP Compact?

In .40 ?? Hmm, I'd expect the newcomer still wet behind the ears USP :neener: to be a good pistol, but haven't shot one... I do have two .40 Hi Powers and like them a lot. :D :D I'd shoot them both for comparison and then get the Hi Power..

The .40 is just enough bigger than the 9X19 Hi Power that I notice it when I pick them up. And this difference can seem like a sin, but it's still a Hi Power, with the reliability and (IMHO) best handling characteristics of any full size .40 out there.

You have been found out.
The only way to preserve any shred of dignity is to immediately purchase a USP or USP compact series gun.
This is at least the third time I've responded to your USP vs. brand X in the last year, I did aboout six months of research myself, but in the end, I wish that I bought the USP compact sooner.
I'd still recommend one in .45, though-it seems to be the cream of the crop.

I have both a BHP and a full size USP 40. I chose the USP for my home defense weapon because it has a nifty light rail that I attached a laser sight to (very handy in a dark home). I like the additional potency of the 40 auto cartridge compared to the 9mm.

I like the BHP for range use, and I think they're both too big for concealed carry. The USPc is a little smaller than the full size, but I've never had the opportunity to carry one, and size doesn't really matter at home.

I have experience with both and given an upgrade in sights would opt for the BHP.

Accurate, reliable, ergoinomic, relatively thin, and a fine tike on one of the industry's true classics.

Personal opinion....GET A GLOCK FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!

Higher ammo capacity, great ergonomics, great looks (ok, at the beggining -before getting my G25-I thought they were ugly as dogs)

HK.
The HP was uncomfortable to shoot. Grip didn't fit me, trigger rubbed the wrong way.
I rented a High Power to see what the hype was all about....I was thoroughly disgusted.
My USP9C is absolute heaven, though. More accurate, more versatile, more comfortable. Disassembly is easier, the profile is streamlined and less snaggable, the magazine release is easier to access and it is ambidextrous. Can speak for reliability with the HP, but my USP has only had a misfeed or extraction failure TWICE--and that was with the first 2 magazines through the gun. Flawless executions.
Not a fan of SAs. The HK can be had in several variations and I suggest you look into it.

You should also look at an HK P7 (if you could afford it), the Sig lines (P229/P228/Pro), and definitely look at a Walther P99.

Be well. :)
