Well, I've had a hankerin' for a Browning Mountain TI for some time. I found a good buy on a brand new one in .308 Winchester (one of my favorite short action cartridges) so I bought it about a month before Christmas. My wife gave me a Sightron II 3-9x32 compact scope for Christmas and I thought I was all set. :)

However, the Browning A-Bolt Mountain TI is different than the A-Bolt and A-Bolt II. The receiver has a different contour in the Mtn. TI than the A-Bolt and A-Bolt II.

I discovered scope ring bases for the A-Bolt are made by everyone. Bases for the Mtn. TI are nearly impossible to find. Go to the Browning Website and they show a ring/base combo and list 3 or 4 retailers as sources.
I tried one of the sources and was sent rings for the A-Bolt.
I returned the rings with an explanation and was credited to my credit card for the rings. They then sent a second set of rings and charged my credit card again. The second rings set said right on the card they were for the Mountain TI. They were. However, there was one standard ring and one medium ring. Didn't work. Sent back and was credited for the rings. Supposedly, the retailer has the correct rings on order. That was before the first of the year. :(
Two weeks ago I special ordered the correct rings through a local Sportsman's Warehouse. They came on Thursday. They were the right ones first try. No special order charge, no shipping fees. :)
The on-line retailer still has not notified me the rings they "special ordered" have come in yet. Also, I am still out shipping fees and return shipping fees for them. Doubt I will ever try them again for anything. :barf:

Moral to the story: If you have a specialized need, exhaust all your local assets before going on-line.

BTW, the correct one-piece ring-bases fit very well and look good, too. The complete rig (rifle, bases, scope and sling with swivels) weighs 7lbs 1oz, not including ammo.

I haven't shot it yet, but I have high hopes! :D :D
