In the market for a scope for my Remington 22. I was thinking about this one. Does anyone here have any experience with them or can offer an opinion?

Thanks very much, David

I have one on my Remington 582. It is good imo. I've had it on my rifle for about 4 years and it has held up to regular range use. It is pretty big -

I have a couple. They are OK for a pretty inexpensive scope. The optics are not as bright as a real good scope, and mine seem to have a real slight yellowish time. Don't count on the elevation controls to track precisely. Don't buy an older production one with the rubberized finish, it gets weird and sticky over time. The adjustable objective works pretty well. They are kind of big. Be careful with the horizontal adjustment turret, I have one that tends to catch on the gun case lining and move if I slide the gun into the case without unzipping it all the way.

Take a look at the Bushnell 22 scopes as well, they are also inexpensive but more of a traditional "no adjustments" scope rather than felling all quasi tactical.

I checked out one at a store as I heard that they were a decent scope (from one or 2 sources), but when I looked through it, I was taken aback at the image. Not in a good way, though. I don't recall if the center was clear, but the peripheral distortion was akin to looking through a fish bowl. Did not seem overly bright either.

Bushnell makes a nice little lit recticle scope that would be a good fit, or maybe go to one of the lower priced "high power" rifle scopes. The parallax may or may not hinder you, but they usually come with better glass and a bigger (brighter) objective. For not a lot more money.

I have one on a fairly old Marlin auto .22, and I'm very satisfied with it. I have no complaints at all. No, it doesn't transmit as much light as some more expensive scopes, but I figured that from the price. It does what I expect of it.

I've had one for 5 years now. In its life here it has been mounted on a Remington 597, Savage BTVR and now a Henry H0001T. It has been totally reliable, always true and a pleasure to use. I have better scopes (mostly Nikon) but for an inexpensive scope the Sweet 22 has been one of the nicer surprises of my shooting years. BTW, Sportsman's Guide regularly offers them at something in the $40-$45 range. I got mine from them and the price was about half for what I saw them on the shelf around here.

Got one here. For the cost they work just fine. I did note that when zoomed to full magnification that the view is a little more fuzzy then the better scopes. But it's still very much useable as long as you don't mind thinking that your eyes are going every time you look in the end... :D

I've also since bought a Simmons 3-9x40 and a Nikon P-Rimfire 2-7x35. For the extra money I certainly got a sharper fuzz free view through the whole zoom range. The graticles on these better scopes are also a little more fine. So it makes it easier for shooting at truly small targets. Mind you a graticle with thicker lines like the BSA makes shooting in lower light levels easier. So pick your poison.

If you're on a budget though or simply do not want to spend the extra the BSA can do the job. I have read lots of reviews that suggest it's somewhat fragile and that the internals can be fairly easily bumped out of true. So keep that in mind and handle the rifle with scope accordingly.

I've got two of them. One on a Remington 511 and one on a Henry Lever action. Decent for what the price is. Haven't had any issues holding zero or returning to zero. Clear enough for me when I stretch out to 120-150 yards with the Remington.

Haven't had an opportunity to test the turrets though. Mine came with turrets graduated for different bullet weights but seeing as I only shoot one brand and one weight out of all my .22's kinda wasted on me.

I have one on a marlin 22mag and I don't really care for it. I'd like to replace it with something better (any suggestions?). IMO its not very bright or clear, has a thick imprecise reticle, is very large and bulky. But, its cheap.

My Dad put one on his Nylon 66 and the recticle fell off after about 50 rounds. I would not buy another BSA product.

I have a Mueller APV on a 22mag and a BSA 22 sweet on 22lr bolt. The APV does have nicer glass but both aren't crystal clear, but more then good enough for a 22 out to 150yds. I do love the turrets on the BSA. I use CCI standard velocity 40gr. The BSA comes with three turret caps for 40gr, 38gr, and 36gr bullets for the drop compensator. For mine I sighted in a 75yds and when I move to 50 or 100yds it is within 1 click of being dead on. It olds zero and is repeatable. I have the cheap AO instead of the side focus one 6-18x. I really like them both, if BSA had one for 22mag in stainless it would probably be on my 22mag instead. APV ~$150, BSA AO ~$75, BSA side focus ~$150

I also have a Leupold VX-2 on a 10/22 but that's a little overkill. Nice glass, crystal clear - even at full mag, but the reticle is canted to the right alittle.

Here is a pic of my savage with the BSA Sweet 22 6-18x. I just shot out to 150yds with it using CCI standard velocity and the marks are alittle off at that distance with my rifle and the CCI's. I had to use the hash mark for 175yds, but I just marked it and now I know thats where it works at. Then I dialed down to where I marked 50yds, 75yds(my zero), 100yds, back to 150yds and it was on at every one.
