Got my Nelson conversion kit after a 15 week wait. Put it on a new receiver with new good parts. Had an old pair of Nill grips which I never used. Had a seam on the bottom of the grips which I thought could close with a through bolt. So I drilled a hole in the grips at 3:30 am and cracked the grips. In a fit of pique I sawed the offending pieces off. Almost bashed the pieces with a hammer. Went to bed. In the morning, tried to salvage the thing. Might want to whittle on it more after shooting it, but pretty much finished.

Paintball was more my game than golf but I'd call this a shank and being relieved it was a bogey:) True, resale value of the Nill grips are now zero. Maybe a lefty with small hands might give me a few bucks for them. Anyway, its tough being a lefty when target pistols like 41's and HS's were sold with right handed grips. I've whittled on those grips to fit also.

Lots of folks here do nice work on 1911s so a build is nothing special. Not everyday somebody will mangle an expensive pair of grips. So thought this post had entertainment/train wreck value; popcorn for the forum. BTW, found the Nills at a gunshow for 40 bucks, years ago. Losing the resale value hurt. A small consolation is now the grips fit.

Just got a box of wood from a friend in the mail. Probably telling not to do this anymore.
