Hey guys, I'm looking for some advice on a bubba'd Mosin Nagant.
I've got 3 91/30s, none of which are special or collectibles. I have chosen the one with the roughest exterior but still with a good bore.

I have already bedded it and am now looking for a scope mount. I am obviously not concerned with permanently altering the rifle. The mounts that are out of the market now that mount to the rear sight or elsewhere in a forward position for a scout type concept do not interest me and personally I believe they are ugly hunks of steel or aluminum that came off a airsoft rifle.

I am interested in taking a 5" section of picatinny rail and mounting it on the front of the receiver. The idea is to drill and tap 2 or 3 holes in the receiver and mount half of the rail on top of the receiver and half over the loading port. My main concern is that the top of the receiver is not parallel to the bore...

The hack engravings will get hit with durafill and they the whole barreled action will get black duracoat. Timney trigger will follow.

Money isn't really a concern - but for argument's sake, budget from here is probably $600. I want to be able to hunt with this rifle. I used to sell guns for a living and every schmuck bought a run of the mill savage 111 30.06 or remington 700 adl .270 and I've already got my hunting rifle NEEDS covered. I want to be different because I can. I like to tinker but don't have a lot of gunsmithing skills so for drilling and tapping and duracoating the rifle will get sent off.

I will probably also add a Karstens Cheek riser to work with the scope.

Thanks for the help guys.
