I have a stainless Commander-sized Dan Wesson 10mm CBOB and it's one of my favorite 1911s.
In all fairness, it took a bit of work to get it perfect, but that was 10-13 years ago.
Pretty sure the ones they are selling these days will be perfect out of the box.
Yes, a DW is more expensive than either of the ones mentioned in the OP, but "buy once, cry once" has some validity too.

Rock Island. Colt delta towards your high side. The Ruger 1911 10mm was in that range. Could probably find a kimber on your high side. There are plenty of non 1911 options also.

I probably shouldn't voted because I don't own either.
But I've handled the RIA 10mm's and would buy one if I wanted a 1911 10mm
A friend from a gun shop is a 1911 nut and told me many times that his Rock was his favorite out of all his 1911s.

I would go with Girsan because I've had good luck with their other products, namely the Beretta clone and played with a few of their 1911s. Fit and finished seemed great.

I've had issues with my brother's RIA and my RIA parts I used for my 1911 build. I will no longer buy RIA 1911 products.

I want a handgun to deer hunt occasionally just for fun and to carry hiking and for backup hunting black bear. I was looking at a Taurus tracker 44 at first but I love the 1911 and it looks like the 10mm is up to the task.
For a strictly hunting handgun I would go with a longer barrel 44mag. Black Bear hunting Backup a 4" 44mag. Hiking carry the 10mm would be great choice.
For all 3 start with the 10mm 1911 & add the others later.

I would not want to have to turn in my THR enablers card if I didn't try to turn a one gun purchase into 3!!!:D

I just went to an lgs and was able to handle both the ria and the Girsan. They both felt very well balanced and seemed to be well made. I liked the grips on the ria a little better, but surprisingly the Girsan seemed to have a better sight picture. Still not sure reliability wise which one is better???

How did we get from 10mm 1911s to .45colt Blackhawks?
I have a .45 colt Blackhawk and several 1911s and the only thing they share are bore size.
OP, I recommend Rock Island, have bought a ,45 TACII, a 9mm GI and an XTm-22. Best bank for the buck.
Girsan makes good clones but you gotta spend a lot of money to get better than a RIA 1911.

Since you love the 1911 type then by all means go for it.

For me, I prefer as many 10MM rounds available in case I need to run for my life or have a few extra (than 8) while a bear keeps chewing on me….<sarcasm>

I can’t say, but my Taylor’s and Co. 1911 10mm is superlative!
It’s the same gun as the Rock Island (Armscor).
Accurate! Feeds everything. All my .45 magazines fit it! (And work with 10mm).
The adjustable LPA sight is frosting on the cake.
The 1911 grip fits my hand infinitely better than a Glock.
The $409.00 price was the deal maker...

While I've never shot a RIA, I voted against the Girsan. I had a 9mm 4.4" 1911 that I sold after about 9k rounds. The slide stop broke after 6k rounds and, for me, it just was not as accurate as any of my other 1911s.
