thanks to loonwulf for the burris cz rings, the scope i wanted to put on the cz, came off my 09 argentina that's on the backburner, so i had to take off the QD talley rings from the 3-9x40 nikon. after the rings where off i found that the finger nuts from the talley fit the burris cz ring perfect.

i wanted QD rings for the carbine so i could remove the scope in the field to use the sights. for now it's on there just for load testing. most QD cz rings are $90 and up. looking online i see tactical wholesaler has the burris ring for $34.52 and you can buy the finger nuts from talley for $28. so for less the $65 you can have QD rings for your 527. i will test and see if they return back to zero.

i figured to share, will see if these work in the long run.

Can I have a link to these finger nuts please? Little off topic, but I've had a similar idea...

I had been wanting QD rings for my CZ 527 to go back and forth between my scope and the irons, but I already have a perfectly good set of Leupold rings on there that cost $75. So I've have to go through money and hassle of selling my Leupold rings at a loss, spending $100 on new QD rings, re-mounting my scope, etc.

Then I noticed that the Leupold rings are just held onto the receiver by a single screw

and I had an idea much like you did.

I think if I can get finger nuts on there, I can turn the Leupolds I have into an ersatz set of QD rings. If this works for you, I may give this a shot myself.

here are the one's from talley, they look a little different then the ones i have, but the screw should be the same. i tried the finger nuts from my leupold par,but they same screw size but then step down smaller. the burris and talley i think are 10-32 what is your leupold 8-40 or bigger.

the other thing i see with the leupold rings are, the screw for the wedge is countersunk and is rounded on the outside. the burris are flat.

Nice idea -- I might try this sometime! I have Warne QD rings on several of my rifles, but given my druthers I'd prefer my rings horizontally split rather than vertically. This arrangement has some possibilities!

Glad to see those getting put to use! That's a neat set up also.
those ugly screws are the reason this worked, most of the wedges are countersunk. things seam to tighten up nice, have to check the return to zero. it's nice to take the scope off in the field if i do use the scope for hunting. now i want a 1-4 lol. thanks again.

Yeah, I had considered putting button heads on them since the clamps we're flat.
Lemme dig thru my scopes, I may have a decent 1-4. I've got a neat little hawk 2-7x32, but it's heavy for it's size.

How heavy is the hawke 2-7? That is the scope I was thinking about for my cz527...
What I've got is the older Sport HD 2-7x32AO, and it weights a little under a pound according to my kitchen scale.
The updated vantage 2-7x32ao specs the similar, and besides being a little cleaner I don't think there's much if any difference.
The non AO version lists at 12.8 and I'd believe those figgures.

i was surprised by the 3-9x40 nikon on my carbine, it looks to long but the balance is very nice. plus that little bit that was taken out from under the rings helps with some weight.

how are the hawkes, new even had my hands on one.
I've only owned this one, and used 4 or 5 others. All of the otheres were the big ones intended for airguns. Those we're all very nice, and I'd recommend them for someone who was interested in the features.
The little Sport is at least optically (and to my eyes), above average for a 100 dollar AO scope

Yeah those older Nikon's (pre plastic caps) are actually pretty svelte scopes. If I had kept this rings they would have gone in the grizzly drill/mill at work and I'd have squared those holes and brought the sides up a little to follow the contour of the rings. It's funny (I'm gonna have this in a thread I'm getting ready to launch) but my 527 fully kited, weights about the same as my buddies Ruger American with a 3-9x40 Nikon in Weaver quadlocks. The 527s like an oz lighter.

it's that walnut, you can get the cz synthetic stocks for $100. those americans are pretty light. my dads predator with the nikon 3-9x50 i gave him feels light for all that rifle. i have already thought of a way to slice those rings to lower them, but don't have the things needed. i really like to get a tig one day.

ya those hawke's are very rare around these parts, i never seen anything wrong with them.

Yeah my 527s walnut.... I was. Also miss remembering the weight difference, here's the pictures.... (What I was remembering was the Amy compared to the t3x that I'm working on for my buddies son)

Ya know.....I. didn't even think about it, but I'd be tempted to set those rings up in a drill press vice, punch two holes bottom up, tap them, and recess the heads. Then cut a chunk out of the middle and try screwing them back together.
If the cut was clean enough they would probably come back together pretty close, if not perfect could add a central location pin also......

Be way easier for a good machinest and welder to just lop em and weld..... But I'm not very good at either.

Oh speaking of, there's a 527 synthetic carbine in x39 in the gun shop I visit when im at work..... That .... Mmmiiiiiight be coming home with me soon.

the x39 are very fun. places have the new youths for $450, there not much shorter lop. saw the first used 527 ever around here at the last gun show, had a few small marks. guy was asking 350 got hi down to 325, i only had 280 ish. again i wish i ha a credit card lol. if that shop has a good price snag it, these cz's keep going up in price.

7.3 is not bad, if that was a 30cal it would be close to 7. my dab has those round saw like cutter, maybe i could hold the rings in the tool holder somehow. maybe try it on a cheap aluminum ring.

They aren't near that cheap out here, my Grendel would have cost over 700. The one in the shop here I think is either just under 5 or 6, can't remember..... They are just so damn cool, and I traded my sks for a BAAG (big az airgun) so I kinda need a reason for all this brass and dies I've got.......

alway good to have a 7.62x39 around lol. cz used to sell the actions. id like to do a 6mm ppc/6-222 one day maybe a 9x39 since the ammo i cheap, and should be a good deer thumber.

Good idea....I've got a pile of those. I
was thinking a high speed mini saw with an abrasive blade, but I'm not sure that would be clean enough..... Hrrmmm

I've got a 6x47rem/6-222rem mag, and that's a spiffy little round. Bullets are a little long for a sub 2.5" action tho. The regular tripple deuce case would be better, probably better even than the x45 case.

Im actually really interested in a 9x37, but on an improved case like the Grendel. 1stmarines 35 Gunner is pretty much what I'd want.
