Bud's Gun Shop - Behind the scenes

I wish them all the best with their expansion - have nothing but good things to say about Buds. If more local gun stores harnessed the internet and committed to fair pricing as Buds does, it would benefit us all; customers and store owners alike.

Buds is a top notch business for sure. I'm glad to see it expand.

I was surprised myself the first time I went there, "You mean this is the same place that sells all the guns online?"..."Sure is."..."Well I'll be!"

I just wish it was a little closer to home....

...what he imagined was a giant building stocked wall to wall with thousands of handguns, rifles and accessories...
Me too. Surprising that they quickly turn over that much inventory on a regular basis, but they do it in that amount of space. Efficiency.

There is a Bud's-type internet/brick & mortar store getting ready to launch in a few months in my area. They already have the brick & mortar store going and they do a very brisk business. They are launching the web store in a few months and were telling me that they will have prices as good or better than Bud's. I believe them, they have a lot of money backing them. Too bad they jerked me around on a used gun recently or I would be happy to see the new operation. As it stands now, I will probably buy my new guns from Bud's if they have them in stock.

Thanks for that link. I've purchased several rifles and handguns from Bud's. Their prices and service are about the best I've found. Good place to do business with.

I'll be there on Friday for the grand opening of their new state-of-the-art range. I'll take some pics and video if I happen to even shoot some in the range. They sent out an email a while back saying that Jerry Miculek was going to be doing an exhibition for the grand opening, but apparently that's been canceled.

200 guns per day * 365 days per year = 73,000 guns sold per year

I guess after 73,000 sales a few people are going to be unhappy. Still pretty good odds :)

The story reminds me of a local idiot who owns a gun store. He does not have a computer in his store and locates gun for customers over the phone.

He maintains that he doesn't need "no stinking computer". He does not do transfers.

He complains that business is terrible because of the recession and can't compete with WalMart.

He should be driving a truck for the county.

I,in my quest for an AK, stumbled across another gem of a gun store. The storefront is called "the Exchange" and is located in Brookings, SD. However, I discovered them through their website www.onlinegundeals.com I found what I was looking for at the price I hoped to find it at in their shop (WASR 10/63, Tapco'd out with folder and Galil handguard for $424 OTD). I was impressed with all aspects of the transaction, and wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again, though I was definitely suprised at the size of their shop, considering they keep everything on their website on hand at the store itself (I actually visted the store, and didn't order online, due to being in the vacinity for unrelated issues).

I have now purchased 8 guns from Bud's since I discovered them about two years ago.......and one last week. I have never been let down by 'em and will continue doing business with them, especially on guns that are new or over $300.....that sales tax thing. Plus, they seem to be about 15% cheaper on most guns than I can get from my LGS'.

More conservatively,

52 weeks per year * 5 workdays per week * 200 guns per day = 52,000

and that is still very impressive.

I love that Bud's emails me when my wish list guns come in. That alone earns them a place in my heart! Great outfit.

Ive bought 3 guns from them, their prices cant be beat. The 1st purchase is a little tricky because due to thier volume of sales they simply cant respond to phone or emails quickly. Now that I know what to deal with my last purchase just last week (Kahr TP45, $430 shipped!) was without a hiccup. Another nice thing is I used a local hardware store for an FFL transfer, they added them to their list of options for local FFL transfers now all I hafta do is click on them and its already in the system. Buds has made buying a gun no more difficult than buying any other consumer item on the internet. I will continue to give them my business.

BTW my LGS's cant believe the prices Im getting, as I always give them a chance to get my business. I try to be friendly about it, but I think Im getting them pissed, so I may stop the comparisons
