I have the opposite experience as most of you, Ordered and paid CC Wednesday, picked up at my FFL on Friday, 2 days can't be beat.

Buds shipping

I have purchased several guns from Bud's and all have shipped in a prompt manner.

I transfer several Bud's shipment every week.
90% arrive within four days of the customer telling me he has one inbound.
Last winter one rifle arrived via UPS Ground less than 24 hours after it was ordered....during a snow storm.

If you absolutely, positively have to have that specific gun before the weekend....buy it local. If you want it cheap buy from Bud's or other internet seller.

I've seen the following at several gunstores that do gunsmithing: "Gun repairs can be fast, cheap or done right....pick two".

I have only had one experience with Buds and not sure if I will do it again. Ordered Labor Day weekend. I waited 7 business days and they sent an email saying they were overwhelmed and sorry for the delay but gave no idea when I could expect my order.

I waited another 10 or more business days and sent them an email enquiring if I was going to receive mine because I was 20 something business days and nothing. I got a response the next day and the person located my gun and got it shipped.

Although I liked the response to my enquiry I don't feel I should have had to be the one who contacted them and got the ball rolling. I like the price but not the waiting so I am not sure if I will do it again. I did find a good FFL that does $20 transfers, which I am very happy about.

What is it about "business days" ? Is that like dog years or what?

Wow- Sounds like there is a bigger problem than just 'slow shipping'. And that is some get expedited shipping? SMH.....

Since they do not stock a lot of what they sell, perhaps your slow shipping is due to being an item they have to have dropped shipped.....................

Maybe- From the looks of this thread they must have an in house inventory equivalent to the size of a Gump porta.

All it said was 'in stock'. I didn't think that could mean in stock 3 wharehouse shipments away. Nonetheless, it is what it is and that was 3-7 day shipping. :banghead:

To me, in stock means THERE. I am paying you your markup to get it out the door, in my direction, packaged well, in a reasonable amount of time. If you can't do that, the reason for your markup is gone.

I bought a gunbroker auction gun of theirs. I immediately sent an email with my CC info and my FFL, and went back to work, since I came back to the hotel for the auction over lunch. I come home, and find an email saying that I need to use their website to check out, which looks and acts like it was written by a CS101 freshman in 99.

So, I do, and indicate my FFL on the checkout. I get an email the next day saying I need to pick an FFL. I send another email, in words of two syllables or less, that the FFL is on file, and this is the one I want. I get another email, the next day, saying I need to pick an FFL. I call, then explain I want this FFL. That night, I get another 'pick an ffl' email. So I call one more time, get the manager, and explain again.

It took 7 business days to get the gun. 2 shipping from Lexington KY to Evansville IN, and the other 5 for them finding their collective rears with the flashlight and roadmap I had to offer five separate times.

The internet is not for everyone.

Just tried to chat and check on my order. I was told I have to wait until after 7 business days and the day the order was placed does not count as the first business day. So my order that I paid for on the 18th, they will check on it on the 28th if the status hasn't changed to shipped...

I've had mixed experience with Buds... using a credit card without a trade resulting in fairly fast shipping. Using a trade and e-Check took over 3 weeks from my shipping the trade to them. and using an e-Check alone took 3 weeks to have the funds post and to receive my item at my FFL.

It was also the day after I got my gun that my inquiries to Customer Service about status were answered. Buds has made themselves an options only when I can't get close to the price elsewhere.

Speaks well of the companies transporting, but says nothing about Buds. The order could have been placed one day or one month before you received notification.

And what does prompt shipping have to do with firearms repairs?

Nope, customers are almost universally delighted in the fast service by Bud's.

The sign regarding gun repairs is analogous with buying guns:
If you want it now, buy local. if you want it cheap buy from Bud's or other online retailer.

If you can find one locally at a better price than Bud's you don't have to worry about shipping times. Obviously, many folks find bud's prices and service outstanding....otherwise they wouldn't be one of the largest firearms retailers in the country.

I've used Buds pricing to try to get a better deal from some local shops. I think experience from purchase to shipping varies based on method of payment. Credit card payments ship within a very reasonable time... using e-Check seems to add 2 or more weeks to the process.

I dislike the inconsistent service I've gotten but if its the best price and I can't get that item for anywhere near Bud's price locally, I'll suck it up and deal with it.

I've ordered one gun from Bud's, and had it easily within a week of clicking the order button. Took a bit longer to get it from my FFL though, as he was at the SHOT show when it came in

When I've bought from them the gun has made it to my FFL in less than a week. Overall though, I really don't care that much. Rarely to I place an order for anything that I need really quickly. Heck I buy a lot of computer and home audio stuff (cables and such) off ebay from Honk Kong sellers where it may be 6-8 weeks before it shows up.

Buying from Buds - even with transfer fees, typically saves me about $100-150 over my LGS, so its worth it (heck I'd consider the wait worth it for any savings over $20).

I live in Lexington. Everything I've ever ordered from Buds has been in the store within 2 business days. Buds is growing so fast they are having a hard time hiring people.I've done business with them for 20 years and have been treated fair and square every time.

I would have appreciated some slower shipping last time I ordered from them. I picked the wrong variant of the gun, and by the time I realized it a couple of hours later, it was already boxed and waiting for the truck. They were very helpful, but I had to pay the restocking fees.

Just got an email from Bud's apologizing for recent slow shipments and announcing a new warehouse and automation. Looks like they were aware of the complaints and have done something to address them.

I would have appreciated a "hey, we're having some delays in shipping due to expansion please bear with us" but at any rate they may have fixed the problem.
