I thought this was pretty cool. I took a quick clip with my phone. 9mm Glock 26 with 115gr WWB, then 4" Ruger GP100 with Remington .38spl target ammo, and finally the 125gr Buffalo Bore loaded barnes JHP. The high velocity one (as you can see by the flash/blast). They say in the description that due to the long for weight copper bullet they could not use low flash powder. No kidding!

Normally I don't see muzzle flash while shooting. Not even with Remington/UMC 125gr SJHP. But with the above load I see the massive fireball. I imagine it would be spectacular at night.

This is why I retired my 686 from HD duty. Imagine that going off in your darkened bedroom. Without ear protection. Ouch! I'm deaf and blind!

Pretty good flash out of that. Wonder what powder they use. Here is what my 500 does with H110:

I'd like to see the extent of Buffalo Bore's Standard Pressure Short Barrel Low Flash Handgun Ammo. I'd love to see what type of flash it produces in low light.

Run a box of that through your favorite revolver and kiss your forcing cone goodbye. Besides, after the bullet leaves the muzzle you're just wasting powder.

mdauben: I had those rounds loaded in mine for "HD" use for awhile now. HD for that gun means coffee table, though, not bedroom, but still...wow. I haven't reloaded it since returning from the range, not sure what I'll put in it.

56Hawk: That's a great picture. I do wonder how far the fireball went beyond the muzzle (picture left) but was out of frame, and how it would look at night. I don't have somewhere to take that shot outdoors at night though.

Drail: Forcing cone is fine. But then I bought a GP100 specifically because it was the most strongly recommended for supercharged light/fast loads. Yes, I'm sure some powder is wasted, as usual.

Guys,

There are many loads that are made with flash retardant powders (usually high end SD ammo.)

Winchester "Ranger" line of ammunition includes a flash retardant for one.

Just get some of that and don't worry about the flash.

I'm calling BS on that, on both counts. People have for a long time said use a fast powder in short barrels, it will get the same velocity as the one with a big fireball, thats not true. Chronograph tests have probved it. I will also say his ruger will handle those loads all day long without forcing cone problems, I know my 686 would.
