Hey everyone,
With the recent Coronavirus outbreak I decided it would be a good idea to get ready to bug out if needed I have all the supplies I think I’ll need but the one thing I haven’t decided on is which rifle to take. I personally have never been comfortable with the ergonomics of a standard AR15. I recently purchased a fightlite industries SCR lower receiver it feels good on my shoulder however I do not How very much range time with the rifle and none of it is outdoors So I haven’t been able to zero it for longer ranges. The rifle I have the most experience with and is the most comfortable for me to shoot is the M1 Garand. I am also familiar enough with the Ballistics of 150gr FMJ 30-06 rounds That I am Confident that I can get on target with only a few shots out to 800 yards even if i lose my zero, Something i cannot say with .223 ammo.
However the disadvantages of weight and ammunition capacity when compared to an A.R. 15 it’s not something that can be dismissed. I personally think that it’s better to stick with something I am comfortable with in a situation like this then to go with something new.
Despite my thoughts on the matter I would like to have the opinion of others about this issue.
I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy and I look forward to your responses.

As much as I liked my Garands, their biggest downfall is the clips. The gun is a single shot without them, and they chuck them all over the place as you shoot.

I sold my last M1 about a year ago. I still have a bunch of AR's, and think they are your better choice.
