Building 1st AR

I'm going to my LGS to pick up a stripped lower tomorrow to star my first AR (.223) build. This is going to be purely a fun gun and I really don't want to break the bank. I'd like to find a decent complete upper but am having trouple finding one in my price range. Can anyone point me in the right direction of an inexpensive upper? It would be nice to keep it around the $400 mark if possible.

check out Model 1 Sales. (That's where I'm getting mine...) best price for the features that I've found. My varmint upper is priced at $375

bought one model 1 had a very bad experience(shot it 1 time and the gas key seized on the gas tube) now i've had several DEL-TON's and have had nothing but good luck no issues what so ever check out there website they have what u need and in your price range

For God's sake, whatever you do, do not buy from Model 1 Sales. There are far too numerous examples of people being ripped off by them.

That said, I'm just not certain that you can find even a decent upper in that price range. Look at Del-Ton or DoubleStar/J&T; you might be able to get an upper in your budget.

if youre willing to spend the extra dough, I spent $550 or so on my complete BCM midlength upper, with BCM bolt group and charging handle. (and magpul MOE handguards)

if it were me, id save up a little more and get one of these or something like it. You wont regret it, and it will last a lifetime.

why not a spikes upper? I've seen them various places for 475$ +/- a few bucks.

RGuns has a worse reputation for complete lack of customer service than Model 1 Sales.

Do your research to make sure you don't get the shaft. Yes, your on a budget. But right now is a great time to buy ARs.

You'd be surprised how much info you can get by just Googling a companies name with the words review or customer service.

I have a buddy you has gotten 2 uppers from RGUNS and said they treated him great. He had a problem with one of them and sent him a complete bolt assembly. We'll see what the next week brings.
