Hi THR,

Im new here and wish some guidence. i have a uk59 barrel that is threaded to fit to any mosin reciever. i bought it from classicfirearms.com before they sold out and now plan on now buying a stripped reciever from them because i twisted and bent my old one i had trying to get the dang barrel. my question: is there any step by step guide out there to doing this to a nagant or similar rifle? can someone point me in the right direction? tips tricks?

This is something only a certified gunsmith with experience installing barrels should do. I'm not trying to be condescending but something like this could blow your gun and you up as well as the person next to you. Have a certified gunsmith look into this. Good luck to you and post some pics when the project's done! Oh and Willkommen!

son of a... I was going to order 2 of these on friday. Oh well, like I need another project. Let us know how it turns out.

snakeman,
i am very much a beginner. but dont feel this is impossible, as long as i can get the head spacing correctly i should be "safe" i hope.

firesky101,
i bought the barrel a fwe months ago and its been sitting in my closet, finally i brought it out and put it on my work bench to remind me of what i need to get done. i would still call them and see if they are going to get some anytime soon. hopefully they will still have some stripped recievers when payday comes along. damn you xmas...

this is all happening in the next few weeks so i'll keep you guys posted.

Putting the barrel on would be as easy as screwing it in. The issues with the full install are cutting the extractor recess, and chambering the rifle. It dosent take alot of know how, or even ability to do either, but you have to be careful. I would recomend having a gunsmith do the work if your only going to be doing one rifle (unless you really want to), the cost for the correct tools will out weigh the savings of doing it yourself.

Not to many folks "garage" gunsmith nagants, so a how to guide isnt available as far as i know. You can google up all the necessary info, just have to put it together.
