Scoping a M44 Mosin Nagant

I am sure that this has been already covered but I could not find any thing using the search

I would really like to buy a M44 Mosin Nagant, to scope and turn into a brush gun / paper shooter, but I want to scope it.

What is the easiest way to mount a scope on it ?

I would prefer not to have the scope side mounted I would rather in be on top of the reciever.

Is there a way to do it with out having the bolt handle bent ?

here is your best option. this an article on how to mount a scout scope with a link to the mount manufacturer's website.

You would have to use a bent bolt if you want to drill and tap the receiver. Not worth the effort IMO.

Play with a scout mount before you do it. I scoped one via scout mount, and despite it working like a champ, I didn't like it. If you use the rear sight replacement mount, Loctite it. You'll lose zero after your first couple shots if you don't.
