I bought my 10/22 in October of last year and pretty much kept it the same. I did pick up a 32-round Promag magazine for it, and finally fixed it so it would feed right. Just bought some Tuffer Buffers to replace the loose bolt stop pin. Last week I picked up a new ATI Dragunov stock for $50 including S&H (mostly because it was a lot less than the others, and it had a pistol grip, which I shoot much better with).

I had it scoped with a friend's scope, but the problem was that the stock ruger scope base kept coming loose. Does anyone have another scope base recommendation for a decent price? I'm not needing the best thing out there, just something affordable. I'm not going to bother asking about the scope since there's already a thread about that somewhere, but if someone wants to throw the name of a brand out there in the $40-50 range, I wouldn't object to it.

The base isn't the problem. In fact I don't think there is an aftermarket base available, and if there is it's identical to Ruger's. You just need to put some Loctite on the screws. The all come loose with out it. The blue stuff was always sufficient for mine. The red is more secure, but requires heat to remove. I keep a little tube of blue Loctite with my gun tools and use it for any gun screw that I'm worried abut vibrating loose.

Dang the ATI Drag. stock cost you $50? I woulda sold u mine for $30. I am going back to the wood stock because mine is from a few years ago when there were little or no plastic parts and the wood was better IMO. Also, I realized I don't need the tacticoolness on my .22

But anywho... these things like to suck up the money. I keep adding little accessories and it makes .22 ammo disappear.

**U can get aftermarket scope bases. Mine didn't come with one. I can't remember the brand but its a Weaver base and I occasionally put a Bushnell 4x scope in Barska quick release rings. However, I enjoy using iron sights. Go to this link... http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/Bro...categoryString=657***8705***11686***14105***&

Thanks, I prefer the wooden stock and hate the "tacticool" stuff, but this one just feels better and I can grip it much better. Thanks for the link, and about the loc-tite stuff...where do you put it, on the threads and then screw them in?

Yes; Loc-tite (generic: thread locking compound) is used by applying a small drop on the threads of the screw just before putting it in. It acts like a glue of sorts and prevents vibration from backing them out. Put it on your rings, too, especially the ones which hold the rings to the base.

If you have to remove the screw, you'll have to clean off the old stuff and apply fresh. A wire brush is the right tool for this job.
