Hey guys I'm hoping there is someone here knowledge about these ultralite titanium revolvers that Taurus has. Or any titanium alloy revolver for that matter.

I sent my 44 magnum back to Taurus for warranty repair (barrel was canted and there was corrosion in the bore). They replaced the barrel and got it back to me. This new barrel appears to have a small indent or bulge on the titanium shroud part of the barrel. The actual barrel itself is a roughly 1/4" steel insert which is surrounded by a titanium alloy shroud. The steel insert itself is smooth inside, no bulge. So, to clarify, this gun has a steel barrel insert that is surrounded by a titanium alloy shroud. The titanium shroud has a small dent/bulge on the outside. The steel insert is smooth. The gun came back very dirty from Taurus so my guess is it was shot a lot before they sent it back to me.

I tried to take photos but it won't show up. It's slight but enough that it changes the reflection of light at different angles.

Any help? I plan on calling CS on Monday but hoping that someone here may have some guidance until then.

Well, if the bore isn't bulged in the same place?

It has to just be a cosmetic flaw in the barrel shroud or finish.
Nothing else it could be.

Yea, the steel insert is smooth inside. No issue. I just don't know how important the alloy shroud is on these guns. My hunch is not very, but that's just my hunch, which is often wrong :)

Thanks for the quick reply!

Not very is right.
It's there to have something light weight that looks like a revolver barrel to hang the front sight on.
The steel liner is the barrel that contains the pressure.

It's had to tell. My guess is it is from whatever tool that was used to tighten the barrel on and therefore a dent.

After looking at it more it's definitely a dent. Again though, the steel insert is good to go.
