Bulk ammo - that should hold me....

I guess you'd call 2 wooden crates of boxed Pyrkal 30-06 a bulk purchase. That was my last major purchase. Of course I bought a couple boxes of .45 Auto with my new Springer 1911. :)

This was from MidwayUSA

You must not take the kids (and their friends) out shooting......

Usually just myself and a friend, but we tend to focus on marksmanship to get the most out of the rangetime. Once in a while I will just blast away with my .22, though! When I do that, I can easily go through 1k rounds myself in just a few hours.

I could've bought quite a bit more bulk ammo, but it wouldn't run 100% (or very, very close to it) as CCI does in my 10/22 and silenced Buckmark.

bought a VQ extractor for my 10/22 and it fixed that problem. am able to shoot cheap federal bulk pack out of my 10/22 and ar15.

the glock w/ conv kit likes to eat the rem golden bullets only.

you really need to get a dueling tree...

It won't run reliably with anything but CCI, but then again it has a 5.5" barrel. :D

EDIT: It has a Volquartsen extractor already, now that I think about it.

Hence the 5k rounds. :)

My bolt and lever actions get fed cheap Federal bulk pack .22lr at $15/550.

The federal bulk packs run great in my Ruger 22/45, at $12/550 rounds, comes out to 2.2 cents/round.:D I buy a brick every time I'm in Wal-Mart, usually a couple times a month.

Not to be a troublemaker-

Oh Hell, who am I trying to fool? Fact is I am a troublemaker and even when I'm not trying to cause trouble I am accused of everything under the sun, anyway.

- Have you chrono'd the Mini-Mags? I have and I was disappointed in their performance. I tested a bunch of various 22 brands in numerous pistols and rifles and found the Mini-Mags (despite the name that implies high velocity) to consistently be among the slowed loads tested. No biggie for plinking or casual shooting but for hunting or use in BUG I would look for something with better performance.

But I applaud the general concept of 22 ammo purchased 5,000 rounds at a time.

Bravo...

Bravo.

I bought these to be subsonic in my pistol and SBR 10/22 - both have silencers, but both run almost 100% with MiniMags. :)

I have seen my 13-year-old daughter burn through 525 rounds of .22LR in an afternoon using her single action Bearcat. In her Ruger Mark II, or her T/C .22 Classic, forget about it. An hour and she'd be dry.

Is there any round manufactured that is more fun than the .22LR? Not to me.

Sounds like a load of BULL from most of you braggerts. I love shooting rimfire but rimfire guns are not much more than practice for real shooting. You braggers sound rather adolecent to me.

I don't know what kind of money you have access to, but I simply can't afford the $0.25-$0.75/shot of most other calibers. .22lr is my main caliber at this point.

I have been debating buying a case of standard velocity CCI LR's. Have not made the plunge as of yet. A case lasts me a while.

I have 3 cases of PMC Moderators that I am shooting as well as a lot of Federal and Remington 22 ammo. Like I said, the additional case would last me a while. :)

i cant truthfully imagine going through that much ammo in less than a month! do you guys have liquid cooled barrels or what? that would be at least a years worth for me, and thats if .22lr is the only thing i shot! seriously though, how do you keep the lead from melting so much it doesn't drip out the end of the barrel? or do you have shooting parties and supply the ammo for everyone?

I shoot different brands when I shoot targets for fun. My stash will last me probably 5 years or more. I rarely shoot more than 300-400 rounds in a day. The more typical amount is about 200 rounds of 22LR, so at that rate the three cases will last me 75 outings minimum. 22 ammo stores well. :) I shoot other stuff too, and 22's reflect about half of my shooting.

No, I don't supply others with ammo other than the occasional box if they are shooting with me.

I think it smart to buy a case at a time if you like that ammunition and can afford it. Prices are likely going up again, so you saved money in the long run.

I live in a rather small apartment. Storing large amounts of ammunition requires some imagination and practical skills.

When I showed a friend my stash of 7.62 and 6.5 mm ammo, he cracked the idea that I should use the ammo boxes as building blocks and construct all my furniture out of them. Imagine a sofa made of 20 round boxes of 6.5x55. Not comfortable, but desireble... ;)

PTK - where'd you order that from and how much?

ETA: I see Midway. Did you buy it by the case, or just by the tray?

PTK, thats a good start. Do that once a month now :)

I don't have that much money. I'd have to forget about eating if I wanted to spend $300 a month on just ammunition - not to mention I'd run out of space to put the stuff!
