Bull barrel - Pros and Cons?

I have both the 6.875 slab side & the 10in bull barreled Ruger MKII.I just like the way the larger profile barrel looks.
I have eight mags & if shot as one long string the barrel gets uncomfortablly hot to hold.I can't imagine how hot the skinny barrel would get.I realize that the amount of heat is the same but I'd bet that the heavier barrels POI stays true longer.

I have a 5 1/2" 22/45 bull bbl.

I shot one of those recently and really enjoyed it. It felt very comfortable and well balanced and let me shoot as accurately as my meager skills allow--better than I thought I could, actually. Probably just a personal "mileage may vary" issue.

I like bull barrels cause it makes for a better club when you are out of ammo!:D

It is easier for me to hold on target. Same is true for rifles. The heavier the better, up to a point.

So my comparison is re: Buckmarks but I think it will translate to Rugers.I have a 10 in bull barrel gun and a 5 in flatside bull gun. In my hands at 50 feet I can't really say the 10 in is more accurate(maybe at 50 YDS?).But when switching back and forth, the 10 in is MUCH quieter, and has much less muzzle rise.W/ a .22 recoil obviously isn't an issue but I can see how in some types of shooting the drastic reduction in muzzle rise from the extra weight could be helpful.My$.02
