Just a quick heads up. Wideners.com has Speer .224 gr 55 gr. SP bullets for $69.00 per thousand. Don't recall the last time I saw decent .22 ca!l. jacketed bullets for that price. They also have Speer 9mm 115 gr bonded JHP bullets for $9.25 per box of 100.
I thought these were too good to pass up and now that my order is shipped, thought I would mention it.

I have ordered from rmr before and was very happy with the .30 cal. Nosler 175 gr Custom Competition bulk bullets they sent. I also am very happy with some primed Federal .270 WSM "pulled" brass I ordered from them. But I will bet you lunch that the Speer 55gr SP bullets will shoot groups half the size of any open base 55 gr FMJ bullet from RMR or anyone else. Plus it will provide better performance on target than a FMJ bullet. I am all about saving money on components, but cheap generic FMJ bullets are not accurate enough for my purposes. I want decent performance and for the extra $3 in shipping cost ($15 for shipping across the country for 1000 of the Speer bullets, so the total delivered is $84), the Speer are a better deal, at least for me. But if all you want to do is see how fast you can empty magazines and wear out barrels, then by all means, find the cheapest junk bullets available and enjoy.
I just thought I would share what I thought was a great deal on some decent quality bullets that can probably shoot moa, or better, in a good rifle.
And, Paddy, yes, RMR still has some of the Nosler 175 gr HPBT Match bullets for a great price, especially if you order 500 or more.

I'm not a benchrest shooter, I shoot my AR off-hand at 50-75 yards, so cheap ass FMJ's suit my purpose just fine.

Unfortunately, the 115 gr bonded JHP apparently have already sold out. Supposedly my 10 boxes have already shipped. They are still showing the Speer 55 gr .224 SP in stock for $69.00 + shipping. Their shipping estimate from Tennessee to Washington State was around $15. Pretty reasonable, IMO.

I've shot a ton of those Speer SPs. They're quality, sub-moa bullets. I am amazed that Widener's can sell them at 6.9 cents! Grab some, you won't be disappointed!

I have shot thousands of RMR FMJ bullets and out of my ARs, they are 3 moa bullets at best. More than suitable for most shooting out to 200 yards. For a small increase in price though, I can cut my group size down to MOA with bullets that cost only a fraction more, and also offer expansion in soft tissue should I ever need it.

Both bullets have their uses, but one is clearly better than the other.

I grabbed 4k bullets from Wideners when they were running the special on the Speer 55gr SP. I was impressed that they came in Speer boxes and weren't bulk packaged in bags. The total price was $301.99 with shipping, which works out to $75.50 per thousand.

They are now running the same special on Speer 50gr TNT bullets.

Its about time. Base metal prices have been falling for the last 5 or 6 years. Copper by about half and lead about 1/3. Hopefully this savings will be passed on to us consumers.
