Bullet Runout... how low can you go?

Been experimenting with various dies and my new hornady concentricity tool trying to eliminate runout and see if there is any noticeable effect on accuracy/consistency of my reloads.

Lowest I can consistently get is about .0015" I've set my acceptable limit at .002" Is it possible to completely eliminate runout? If not, what should be an acceptable level of runout?

Real anal reloading friends have told me that accuracy is not effected with run outs LT or EQ .003"

A shooting bud of mine, a 1000 Yard Wimbleton Cup Champ, he ignores run out and he shoots cleans at 600 yards all the time.

So I figure, why bother.

In my opinion, in a hand held rifle, if you have good bedding, good barrel, good bullets, then sight alignment and trigger pull are far more important to accuracy then this bench rest stuff.

Missing your wind call will really mess things up.

Yep. .002 is quite good by most standards, but it will be very difficult to show the gain on target. After you have a known good load, concentrate on technique and reading the wind. That will bring much larger benefits.

Unless you're gunning for Jackie Schmidt's agg record run out wont matter. Even then I doubt if it would. Load into the lands with low neck tension, and runout wont really matter one way or the other.

Technically, sure.

That's a personal decision, not a "should be" kind of rule.

My rifle with the least runout is my 6 Dasher. It averages <.0005 with Wilson dies and Lapua Brass.
