I have done a search but did not find what I was looking for. I am relaoding 7.62X 39 in my LCT with Lee dies. I know (think) this is not an ideal press for loading rifle because of the movement of the turret. It loads great handgun ammo but leaves me with anywhere from .03 to .015 runout. My factory Wolf ammo seams to run about .05 consistantly. Being new to loading rifle I don't know if it's the dies, press, or techneique. I try to keep everything as consistant as I can but still come up with what I believe is to much runout.
What would be considered acceptable runnout? Or, stated another way, at what point does runnout become detrimental to accuracy?

you could try turning the case 180 deg just after the bullet starts to seat. the thing is with this round not much bullet goes into the case so it's got a lot of wiggle room. just start the ram up and soon as you feel the bullet start in the case lower the ram and rotate the case 180 deg make sure the case is in the shell holder all the way and finish seating the bullet. turret presses are something i only use for handgun ammo the longest being 357 mag. good luck it might help.

Are you sure you don't mean .0015 to .003, as in one and one half thousandths to 3 thousandths?

If so, that isn't so bad.

What cases, what bullets? How accurate is the rifle with good ammo?

I use the same lee press and load rifle ammo and can hold run outs of less than .002 . I will turn the case several times in the process of seating a bullet . My thought is to have a loose case holder and the die will line up . Have you checked case run out at the neck of the brass prior to loading a bullet into it ? If the case neck has excessive run out then it will load ammo the same way . You are loading Brass correct ?the more details you give the better.
