I need to buy a set of carbide dies for 44 mag. Years ago I used RCBS and do not remember having in problem loading both lead SWC and round nose hollow points. I notice Lyman advertises more than one bullet seating screw in their 44mag die set, so you can fit to different bullet types.
I plan to load mostly hard cast lead bullets of the SWC Keith type or other flat nosed lead bullets.
Will I be OK with the RCBS or should I get Lyman? Also what about Lee. I have used them also and liked them a lot, plus they are cheaper.

Generally, seater stems for flat nose bullets like SWCs have a flat base for pushing on the nose of the bullets. Round nose bullet sweaters have a shape that more closely matches the round nose bullets.

I have used round nose sweaters with SWCs, the just round off the corners if the nose on seating. I am not sure if there are any consequences other than visual.

RCBS should have SWC seater plugs for their dies or you can get the Lyman seater that comes with all of them.

Where I use different bullets in a particular cartridge, I sometimes have multiple seater dies so tha I do not have to change the dies back and forth.

I do crimp in a separate step, one of my preferences but by no means the only way..

I use the Lee carbide set and load both types of bullets. As mentioned the seater will round off the nose edge a slight bit but I have never seen any accuracy problems with my SWC ammo VS factory loads a friend let me use once. Actually my handloads shot more accurately at 20 YDS.:)

I purchased a set of pistol dies with a RN seater plug, and I wanted to load SWC. I called RCBS and they very nicely sent me a SWC seater plug at no charge. Hats off to RCBS customer service!

Thanks for all the good comments. I think I will just get me a set of RCBS dies like I had before and give er a try.
