: I want to try Bullseye Powder in a 45ACP behind a 185grn LSWC for
bullseye target shooting at 25 yards and then at 50 yards. Also repeat data
for a 200grn LSWC. Can someone out there give me some a good starting
loads for these two bullets. Also any comments on range of loads versus
grouping with Bullseye.
Been using 231 but to me it seems to be too sensitive to charging accuracy.
Thanks DMSC357
Hi DMS, For 25yd Timed and Rapid fire strings I use a very light load that is
X-ring accurate and also runs flawlessly in my 70 series MK IV Gold Cup. The
load is Dardas H&G 68(200gr), 3.2 gr of Bullseye powder and a .469" taper crimp.
I use Tula and CCI primers, I found no difference in primer performance. For the
50 yd line I use a Dardas H&G 130(185gr) and 3.6 or 3.7 gr Bullseye powder
with a .467" taper crimp; this yields 10 ring accuracy(My GC will only group 2-1/8" at 50yds.).
My loads and crimps may or may not work in your pistol; but then you probably
expect that. Good luck and have fun testing loads for Bullseye competition.
