So I have a Burris scope and have knock on wood never had any issues with it. However, I keep seeing everyone mention how great Leupolds customer service is when you have a issue so this made me wonder is Burris's bad or just doesn't get mentioned? If you have a issue do you have to have the receipt and all that stuff or is it like Leupold where they will just fix the scope? Anyone had to deal with them before?

I won't even go into the Burris horror stories we have exprianced here at the shop....I will tell you a short story of my own...

Burris Black Diamond scope, deer hunting 35F, 1000 ft MSL, moderate to light rain...scope fills with water, my daughter....daddy, I can't see through the scope... dad, well get behind it like I showed you... daddy, it's full of water...WHAT!!! let me see...DAMN!!!!!

Sent it back to Burris through the company.... they lost it, 4 weeks later they find it, send it back...not repaired and with a different reticle in it....return...many phone conversations...3 more weeks, it arrives...

Parallax adjustment so tight you aint turning it! Call...advised to send back....send back, now I have enough in shipping to damn near buy a new one...no, they did not want to reimburse the shipping, but in all fairness did reimburse one, just one of the shipping charges!

3 more weeks, it comes back.....all fixed, nice and shiny.....has no reticle in it.....
More calls, send back, this time they sent a pre-paid lable for me...5 days latter it is here....are you ready for this......

They had put a totally different reticle in it, than it had originally!......

I didn't even call em' back, I can use it like it is......

And this is just one scope.... this has happened with numorus units at the shop...talk about a pain!

The Customer Service people are nice, polite and try to help, but the repair folks...well!

The last batch the shop sent back for repair...3 units, were repaired correctly and returned pronto, pleased customers...but the scopes should not have failed at all...things like flakes of (?) stuck on the reticles to loose lenses that rattled to eye pieces that were installed crooked.

BTW...you do not need the original, or any receipt for repairs.

I have two Burris Fullfield II's one made in the USA and one made in the Philipines. As Luck would have it, I had issues a little over a year into ownership of the Philipine made scope. The elevation adjustment failed to hold zero. I contacted Burris, they provided me the shipping information. I shipped it at my expense. (under $10.) Three weeks later I recieved my scope in the mail with a letter stating what they had replaced. In my case they replaced both the elevation and windage adjusters. Also included was a neoprene scope cover and a letter of apology for the trouble. So in my instance, I was very pleased. And I've not had any trouble with the scope since. I don't recall ever registering the warranty. (I'm not good with those kind of details) I am sure a reciept was never even mentioned. I'm sure there are horror stories with all major manufacturers as well as good ones. I own four Leupolds and just recently aquired my third Burris, a Timberline 2x7 for a recently purchased levergun. While they are in no way in the same league as a Leupold VX-III, I think they are good scopes for the money.

I have used many Burris scopes and have had only two problems. Both times I mailed the scopes to them and received them back in perfect working order within a couple weeks.

I got one of the scopes for free with a used gun. The scope came broken and they repaired it for free anyway, even though I was not the original buyer.

Since Burris was acquired, things changed. Haven't bought a new Burris in a long time and don't think I will buy any that are off-shore manufactured, as I truly think those made here are better. If you call them, they'll tell you where they're made.

I`ve a compact 2x7 that developed a crack in one of the internal lens about 3-4 years after purchase. (My dog knocked my rifle over while I had it leaning against my bench:banghead:.) I sent it in and it was repaired at no cost other then shipping and has worked just fine since, about 15 years now. The only beef I had with their repair was it took a month and a half or more to fix and return it. They definatly are not fast with repeirs.

I`ve 4 other Burris scopes and have never had a problem with any of them so far.....Knock on wood.

I once spent $100 on Simmons Whitetail scope. It has been resting on the shelf for most of the time. Big and bulky.
I've been buying $20 scopes from JG sales and shooting 100's of 223, 8mm Mauser, 7.62x54R without any problems. If any of them breaks, I will have to buy 9 more to meet average price of Leupold or Nikon. Now, I only shoot paper so in case of failure, I just stop shooting. Hunting scopes would need to be more reliable than this.
