Bushmaster Carbon 15

I carried the initial A1 version of the M16, and, for the most part, hated it. But, it was light, somewhere around 6 pounds or so, if I remember, and my "mixed mode" A2 weights about as much, plus or minus a pound or so, as my M1A.

Thus, I'd be interested in any experienced comments on the Bushmaster Carbon 15.

Not to mention that the wife'd be more likely to accept the lighter rifle....

Anyway, comments, please!

And, yes, I've read the earlier threads, but I expect the 'master to be much better than the original.

Been there, done that, bro...mine still had the old 3 prong "wire cutter" flash suppressor.

I'm afraid I don't have any experience with the new clones, the last civilian version I had was an early '80s Colt Plain Jane. Apologies for the senior/nostalgia moment there, didn't mean to highjack ya.

I did my active time from '71 - 74 (Army, the original Green Machine), and, as memory serves, we had the "normal" flash suppressor. But we trained with RVN rejects, and I thought for a while that the M16 had a polygon bore.

I thought that the triangular handguards made sense: they worked for me, at least, but then my current "mixed mode" version has an A1 butt stock, so what the hell do I know?

I do think, though, that it's important to have, on hand, one of the black rifles, although I'm currently thinking about a 6mm version.

The carbon'd be for my favorite female, otherwise known as the wife or boss, depending on how you look at it. She simply doesn't like the AK clone or the AR, weight for the first, shape for the seoond, I hope.
