It looks like my last thread turned into an Obama ban discussion, but I'm curious about Bushmaster rifles.

I live in NY. Clinton ban still in effect. I don't see much point in buying a pre ban gun like a Century Arms L1A1 that I've seen posted for sale on this site and paying $1000, when I can have a new Bushmaster for the same money and go on my way looking for pre-ban ar 15 mags

Is there a lot of diversity among the quality of pre and post ban guns or is it more of a case by case basis?

Should I just buy an AK? I can have 2 "evil features" when I move next week. I think you can find an Ak with that no?

Bushmaster can produce quite a consistent quality. Like any production maker, there will be plenty of lemons, but those exceptions shouldn't dissuade you from buying one.

Well I guess that clears up Bushmaster being reliable compared with a pre ban firearm. My next concern is the price v. value. I guess I'm asking is a $1000 Bushmaster, twice as good as a $600 AK, and is that in fact twice as good as a $350 SKS?
