First off, let me apologize for another "vs" thread.

I've been looking at the Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 for a while now. This morning, I came across the opportunity to get a gently used Burris XTR 4-16x50 for $20 difference.

This will be going on an AR that will be used for plinking and a little varmint hunting in Wyoming, though probably no more than 400 yards out, so the extra magnification of the Bushnell would be mostly superfluous. I might do a little long range shooting, but I don't have much of an opportunity around here.

Is there much of a difference between these scopes, or would I be better served by foregoing the target knobs and getting a Leupold or something in the same price range ($700)?

Thanks!

Outlaw;

I've purchased four Burris products over the years. Two scopes, two sets of rings/mounts. One set of rings & mounts worked without issue.

One scope I replaced with a Simmons & felt I got twice the glass for half the price. I literally gave that scope away. Last year it was reported to me that the reticle fell out of it. It was sent in for warranty & repaired. But, that scope was never on anything but a .22 rimfire.

So, draw your own conclusions. But there'd be no hesitation in my mind as to which I'd pick.

I own the Bushnell ET 4530, it is truly a great sce. I vote Bushnell, just for the money back guarantee they put on their ET scopes.. It's called the Bulletproof guarantee. If it has it, and you don't like it, they refund your money. I shoot mine on a 50bmg (Bushmaster BA50) and it is very impressive.

Thanks for the replies!

I ended up finding the Bushnell I wanted on Gun Broker for not much more than this Burris, so it was a no-brainer. Nice to hear good things about the Bushnell ET, though.

I would find a used vortex viper pst. You can get them for $500 to $650
