My dad wanted me to mention some great service he got from Bushnell. He sent in a spotting scope for a routine repair, and since it was obsolete, they replaced it with a current model, no charge. He also mentioned to them that his very old, long-out-of-warranty first generation perma-focus binocs had been dropped, and no longer worked with both eyes together, and they told him to send those in and they would do the same for them.

A little service goes a long way with us.
 
I've never had to deal with Bushnell service, because all of their products have worked flawlessly for me. Glad to hear your dad had a good experience with them.

I've topped many of my rifles with Bushnell scopes (Sportview, Trophy, etc) and have used and abused the hell out of them. They're bright and clear and tough. Never had one go bad on me, even after being submerged in a muddy ditch. That was an 80 dollar Sportview. Everytime someone says "oh you should try my Leupold", I look through it and don't see any better optics than on my Bushnells. I like Bushnell a lot.

I called their hotline about a scope that was damaged - they asked me to send it in for a repair, along with a check.

The hotline and I knew it was out of warranty and no longer manufactured.
They sent it back with the identical explanation - sorry, dude, out of warranty and no longer manufactured. No refund on the repair (handling charge) check.

If I'd been on their end, I'd have replaced it or at least sent a catalog and a voucher for at least 15% off on the next scope purchase. That would give me something to work with, they'd have sold something, and I'd still be a customer.

I'm happy for you - but I'm no longer shopping for their products.
 
My experience was similar to JJohnson. Sent in a scope and got a reply back that it was not repairable. They offered me a bottom line scope at higher than WalMart price. This was three plus years ago, and I am still so mad that I can't even write them to let them know what I think of their company. Scope was old, but supposedly had a lifetime warrenty. Bushnell doesn't get my money anymore.
