After a long search, I think I will purchase the TRS-25 for my new AR. I would love the Aimpoint Micro but have taken a reduction in income this year. Therefore, I feel that the Bushnell is my best buy in the $100 range. Am I on the right track?

I have one on my 22/45. It does a fine job. I am not sure if it can handle heavy recoil, but that shouldnt be a problem on most ARs.

There are quite a few poor reviews on Amazon. However, I am convinced most of those guys don't know what they are talking about. The sight gets a 9 out of 10 from me. My only complaint is the brightness knob is a little stiff.

I have one. Stays on zero and has good battery life. A little distraction comes with it as the internal guts slightly causing a view that is out of round at around 4-5 o'clock. That comes with every TRS-25.
You can get used to it. The price makes it easy to overlook a few shortcomings and IT WORKS.
I would mount it with a lower 1/3 view on a quick detach riser. It will line up better with iron sites. If you're like me, sooner or later you'll want to mount a scope with QD.
I am going to do that when I change out my front site/ bayonet lug gas block. Then I'll have to change my present riser also.
But for now, my TRS-25 red dot point of aim sits nicely on top of my front site pin.

I had 2. One had a brightness knob that was stupid hard to turn. The other was only slight my stiff. Sold 1, put the other in a 22 pistol. They hold up fine as far as I can tell. But I don't ask a lot of them. I prefer a low power scope on my rifles.

I have one and it does the job. No complaints.

You should also look at the Primary Arms MD-ADS with 50,000 hours of battery life. It's about $75 more than the TRS-25.

I had a TRS-25 fail on one of my AR's. I pretty much start and stop at Primary Arms for budget optics these days. For the price, They are the best performing I've found, and if they do fail, the CS is outstanding. I got a run around trying to return the failed TRS.

I have a TRS-25 on my Beretta CX4 and like it, holds zero and has all the brightness settings you need. I think it is perfect for a budget optic.

I've had one on my AR for quite some time and have had zero problems. I recently replaced it with a 1x4 burris to get a little magnification and I will be using the TRS-25 on my M&P 15-22.

No problems with recoil. Had one on a 12ga for awhile and used it for slugs. Held up to over 50 rounds of slug and a bit more than that in 00 and #7 use keeping zero. The TRS is one of those few instances where an inexpensive optic turned out pretty well.

I have 2 TRS 25's and 2 Primary Arms. They are essentially the same sight, made in the same factory. For the money they are good performing sights.

Can they fail? Sure can, but mine have been very reliable, hold zero, have good battery life and dont break the bank.

I've had my TRS on my S&W 686 and had no problem with it holding zero shooting full power 357 mag as well as light target loads. Its also been on my 10/22, 22/45 and now it rests on my AR. It's been rock solid and wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. The only thing I could say about it is the same as greyling22, the knob is fairly stiff.

I have used and continue to use TRS-25's on Ruger 10/22's, Saiga 7.62x39, 5.45x39 and 5.56 rifles, and AR15's in both 5.56 and 300 black out. All have held zero fine and show no problems so far. They can often be found in the $87 range and sometimes cheaper. For a budget red dot they are hard to beat.

I have one mounted on my WASR and another mounted on a Ruger Mk II handgun. Great optics, no issues.

I had one on my AR for a few months and was happy with it, until the bolt on the high rise broke. I might get another rise or just buy a better optic.

^^^ the supplied riser on my trs-25 was a POS. Broke on the 1st range trip. Currently looking for a picatinny to weaver riser so I can use it on my AR. Have no issues with the TRS. Got 2. One has been on a 22/45 for close to three years now and still on the original battery. The other lives on a 10/22 for now.... Until I find a riser for the AR that will work.

I have one and it is a pretty good optic. However I like my Leatherwood Micro Max B dot much better. Not only is it parallax free unlike the Bushnell but the battery life is on par (55,000 hours) with an Aimpoint. Also has NV setting and room for a spare battery so you get quite a bit more for the money.

That or the Holosun should offer similar performance for only $200...
