Son of a gun! Many of you have posted on my P6 purchase earlier this week, and while drive firing my new purchase from the couch a couple dozen times, the trigger goes loose and won't engage anything...it just hangs there. I'm thinking I have a broken trigger spring. Do P225 internals match the P6 for getting replacement parts? I'm sure I can disassemble it, but it's not worth it if I can't find replacement parts. I'm pissed.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Yes, same parts.

It is likely the trigger bar spring.

Quick test, with an unloaded handgun, hold it upside down and pull the trigger.

If it now actuated the hammer, it is the trigger bar spring. They are available.

First thing I do when getting a new firearm is get an exploded view of it. Then take it apart, at least enough that it gets a thorough inspection/cleaning. Then I replace what needs it---springs etc. Back together and function test. Usually I avoid those loud angry outbursts this way.;)

They make spring kits for them. Not a bad idea to replace them since the gun is used, and not by you. Id replace that mainspring with a 225 spring too, while youre at it.

The trigger spring seems to be a common problem too. Ive replaced a couple on a couple of different guns.

I always used Top Gun Supply for my source when I had a bunch of SIG's. They seemed to have pretty much everything and were good to deal with.

Id get one of the armor CD's too if I were you. Well worth the $20 or so bucks they get for them.

On a used pistol, especially one as old as a P6 (40+ years), it is a good idea to replace all the springs. You're going to want a lighter mainspring anyway...the standard 225 mainspring works fine

My P6' mainspring had been changed by a previous owner.
The gun is as 100% reliable as my other Sigs and the DA/SA pulls feel Exactly like the trigger pulls in my classic P225.

I no longer buy Sigs unless they are German-proofed or a US-made P229. Period.
