Butt ammo cuffs?

Both the shotgun and the '94 I have cuffs on have a QD type sling mount near the toe of the butt. I removed the mounting screws and then rescrewed them through the cuff when I put them on. They do not slide forward.

As for saddle scabbards, I guess it depends on the scabbard. The scabbard one of my buddy's little sister used on her saddle had the stock exposed.

Years ago someone made a rifle sling that had a spot for two rounds up near the front swivel. Some folks claimed it cause wobble, but with the carrier snugged up tight against the front swivel I can not see how.

I had a bud that talked about maybe one day attaching a single leather cell Mauser pouch to the stock of his K98 via Screws and then carrying stripper clips of ammo in it. He never got around to it. I very briefly used a section of cloth bandoleer, one pouch complete and the one on either side cut away but for a tail and the thing held on with big rubber bands and holding two stripper clips in the card board carrier. Florida heat killed the bands fairly quickly so after a few changes I quit. This was just so the rifle had ten rounds on it when stored in the rifle in the trunk of a poor condition 1959 Pontiac (Da Blue Bomb).....eight miles a gallon and I was happy. Some of the town kids were freaked out by seeing that old Mauser of mine (all four of my "gang" had K98s of some type in 7.92 Mauser)hanging in straps in the area of the trunk off the back seat springs while we were loading the trunk up for a beach trip.

Those elastic ones just don't hold up very long. I went through two or three hunting with a Savage 110.

I've seen a few leather ones in the field that have lasted a lifetime.
