I've been doing some research and really want a Hi-Power. For some reason it appeals to me more than the 1911, and I can afford 9mm ammo a lot more than I can afford .45 acp. From what I've read, the Hi-power is about as good as it gets in 9mm. Plus, I guess every gun owner needs to pay homage to John Moses Browning. :p

I've narrowed it down to
1. Browning Hi-Power Practical
2. FM Hi-Power
3. Charles Daly Hi-Power

My number one concern is reliability, second accuracy, and third finish.

From what I understand the BHP Practical is the best, but it's also the most expensive ($700-800). The FM and CD are about half that.

Are the FM and CD models reliable and sufficient, or should I just wait and get the Browning?

I plan on adding night-sights, until then I wanted fixed sights. If I get the FM could I just have a gunsmith put a duracoat on it if I don't like the finish?

Would a German Sig220 be a fair trade for the Browning? I don't know if I will trade it.... but I'm thinking about trading firearms I don't use towards it.

Last, anyone have a hi-power they don't want anymore? ;)

Please take a look at the previous post right above yours. All the information you're asking has already been posted so I have doubts that everyone will post the same data the second time. I'm just trying to help you and it's just my opinion. :)
