What's the going rate for once fired range brass that still needs to be cleaned and sized? Mainly 223, 45, 40, and 9mm and all mixed brands but mostly Federal and Remington I would guess.

That is not the best place for a fair price these days.

I believe 9MM is going to be the cheapest, followed by .40 & .45, then .223. prices are crazy right now. Some folks are still reasonable, and some are charging way too much. Shop around.

These are two good places to start. Sounds like you have some to sell?

All of those kinds of brass have been selling on the forum here. You can look there and see what people have been asking for and paying for brass.

It depends on the area. Around here, nobody is buying .40 S&W brass at all. The 9mm sells, as does .45 acp and .223.

The scrap brass prices are way down and some of the recyclers aren't even buying brass, instead telling people to hold onto it until the price goes back up. For awhile, the scrap price was just about equal to the reloading brass price, but that's not the case now. You'll just have to see what the market will bear as far as price goes.

Hope this helps.

Fred

The smaller quantities (100 to 500 cases) are usually the cheapest as there seems to be less demand for it. On Gunbroker, it's the lots of 2,000 to 4,000 that see all the action. If you have spare brass and want to swap it, ammobrasstrader.com is the place to go for that. I've done quite a few swaps to get the brass I want and trade off what I've picked up.

It is if you're a seller.

If you're a buyer, Conevera has practically nothing in stock and Brassman is over priced.

Right now, I'm buying Winchester 45acp for $45 a thousand and selling it on GB for a $100+.

I was wondering about this too....have the opportunity to buy 1000 of each 38 special and 9mm winchester once fired for $90 and $80 respectively. Sure would be a lot of work on a singel stage press though ... maybe time to step up and get some sort of progressive operation going.

Y'all just wait. The madness will stop. Prices will be back to normal, or better. No one will be buying, except those patient enough to wait. :)

38 special and 9mm winchester once fired for $90 and $80 respectively.
Unthinkable.....

You can buy it cheaper than that off of these forums shipped to you. No way I would pay that much for 38 and 9mm brass.

If I remember correctly, a local range is selling 1000 rounds of once-fired .45 for about $35

this is what's wrong with the whole situation....

I sold 1000 45ACP brass to a gentleman on here for 100 bucks shipped.

Of course, it was all decapped and completely spotless - both washed and tumbled. And headstamp sorted, 500 each of CBC and Winchester.

Don't think I ripped him off.

Another guy got me to send him 1000 9mm's (again, decap/all winchester) and I even threw in some swaged 223's and some 30-cal bullets he couldn't find anywhere. Said he had a hunt coming up, suckered me in. Think I ate it on that one (like 40 bucks shipped) but I'm sure he appreciated it. :D

Which is slighly less than everyone should be paying, and will be again one of these days.....:uhoh:

PM sent sectional_density.

There is a local range in Houston that sells range brass for .05 a casing no matter what caliber. it all depends on what you want to make on it i suppose

I've been buying 45ACP for $40.00 / 1000 but my supplier is going to go up to $50 / 1000 based on the current market conditions.

The last range brass I got was 7000 pieces of 9mm for 100.00 and he delivered it to my house. Guess I should get some more and see what other calibers he has......

This may be a dumb question, but what is "once-fired" brass? I've always reloaded my own factory-loaded brass. I see the once-fired stuff all over the internet, on GunBroker, and it used to be on ebay. Is it truly once-fired from a police range, etc.? Or is it a mixed bag of stuff that someone picked up at a public range? And what, if any assurances, do people get that it truly is once-fired if that is the case?

So making money is wrong?

It's a generic term meaning that the cases have never been reloaded.
Since it isn't always easy to identify OF brass you need to take that term with a grain of salt.
Most of the brass I sell comes from LE ranges and they don't shoot reloads. I also guarantee that it's OF.

Nope. If you start the auction at .01, or a reasonable amount, and the folks bid it up over $100, it's their fault.

Everyone is frustrated with high prices and lack of product these days. I feel sorry for those just starting reloading, or those who truly need something. They will just have to be patient. :)

what is "once-fired" brass?
Brass from factory rounds that have been fired, but not yet reloaded.

Tommy, do you mind telling us which one that might be?

Thanks, Mark.

In most cases once-fired means 'stuff found on the range' It is assumed once fired as reloaders collect their brass, but we all loose some brass at the range from time to time.

It is really 'previously fired an unkown number of times whose average approaches one' but that is too much to put in an ad.

I refuse (so far) to pay more than 60% of the cost of new brass for any previously fired brass.
