OK Folks, might be asking a bit much, but some of you may have some good ideas.

I live in California at the moment. Was planning to move to East Tennessee this summer. Very good business opportunity has come up here, and I would be stupid to pass it up. Therefore, I will be here in cali another 2-3 years to get it up and running (if business works out well, means buying lots of space in TN, very big +, so very worth it)

Here is my dilemma. I want an AR and possibly a FAL (plus mags) in case they get banned again. I am not a defeatist, but being from Cali, I know what can happen.

I cannot buy them here, obviously. Now, I have a couple options I'm considering, just not sure if they are legal.

I have a good friend in Knoxville. It would probably be fine to buy the rifles and mags, and leave them with him for awhile, till we made the move. Is this legal, or since I am a California resident, is it illegal to buy these rifles/mags in ANY state? Hell, if he would hold them a couple years, I buy him a new safe to store them!

If so, here is my other idea.

In my current job, I spend about 1 week a month in Arizona, will be for the next few months. Can I rent a small apartment, and gain residency for the months I will be there, and be legally able to buy the rifles I want? Put them into storage for my later move?

I am not interested in breaking any laws, or testing the limits of them. I thought, with the move we had planned, that it would be fine. I could be in a free state and have whatever I want. This might not be the case any longer. Anyone with any knowledge of the questions i asked, or better ideas?

Yes, I could have by buddy just buy the guns, and sell to me when I make it out, but with a possible ban, a transfer might not be doable either.

Note:Just to reiterate, I have NO intention of ever bringing these rifles to Cali, but want them for my future in a free state.

Help?
