Buying reloaded ammo?

i can honestly say i have never bought any , and really been kinda scared of it to tell you the truth. but i saw this site and was wanting some opinions on it. im not rushing into buying any til i ask first. the only gun i have is a 40sw springfield xd40..do you think this is safe? i read about the ka-booms and it seems common to be centered around reloads, well to hot of a reload that is, and i was wondering on this the velocity seems right for a normal 40sw so im assuming this is not a hot load..anyway the price was nice and we all know how exp it can get to buy ammo and i dont have the skills/knowledge or eqp to do reloads myself ..so what do you this of this place??

Haven't bought anything through them, but I seemed to remember them being associated with Miwall, and I saw they still said they are a distributor for them. If that's who they're getting the loads from, they (Miwall) are a pretty reliable commercial loader. I used to get good prices on components from them in Sac when I still lived in CA. Check it out. I'd think it would be fine. But you can also get good deals on budget factory loads too. (And yes, there have been blow-ups from factory, commercial reloads, and home reloads.)

Back before I started reloading I shot up a bit of factory reloaded ammo from various sources. It was always poor quality, but it always went bang and never blew me up or anything.

I just got 500 rounds of .38spl Miwall factory reloaded ammo. It came loose in a .30cal ammo can and is comprised of like 8 different heastamps. I have yet to shoot any, but when I do, I will let you guys know how it is. The brass is of mixed brands, mostly Winchester, Federal and S&B. However, there is also a lot of Norma brass tossed in there too and I don't think I need to tell anyone how good that stuff is. Bullet crimps are all over the place but I think it will all fire just fine and the bullets themselves, 158grn LRN's, are all in good shape. I will try to shoot some tomorow.

Miwall reloads are excellent. Before I got a press, I bought miwall reloads at the fun show by the thousands, and never had a problem.

Miwall is great remanufactured ammo, Cal-Ammo is good stuff, There are a number of places out there. If you're really worried about it, buy from a reputable outfit. Miwall and calammo are the only two I can think of that are common.

A lot of our non-reloading competitors use the Miwall branded reloads. They usually go to one of the local gun shows and purchase several cases and shoot it up till it's gun show time again. For shooting common calibers, they are about as good as anyone else. I've also picked up factory ammo (Blazer) from them at a very decent shipped price. I received it here in as little as 2 days from when I placed the order (OR to CA).

When I lived in RI, I used to buy reloaded ammo form Bullseye shooting supply quite often. It was actually cleaner, more accurate, and more consistent than most “practice” ammo, and was about half of the cost. I never had a problem with his ammo, nor did anyone who I know that shot it. My HK USP45 loved his 200 gr fmj swc’s. The only thing is that in order to get more, you had to return the brass, but picking up brass is a small price to pay for a $6.00 box of 50 rounds of 45 ACP, and if you shot lead, it was only about $5.00.

If it is a company that has been doing it awhile there is no reason not to give it a try. Either online or at a gun show. We have a couple of companies whose reloads are sold at shows around here and it is by all accounts pretty good stuff. I bought some .357 Sig by them to try out in a new pistol before buying the necessary dies etc. to reload for it and it shot fine. They are not a national company but are well established here.

Unless I absolutely know the company is established (as established as a commercial ammo manufacturer like Winchester, Remington, Federal, etc.) I wouldn't touch it. I'd no more buy white box reloaded ammo at a gun show than I'd by my medicine on a street corner. Some people think I'm crazy, but I'm not suicidal.

I agree with walkalong. If the company has been around for a while, its reloaded ammo (or "remanufactured" as some call it) is likely OK.

I bought reloads back in the 1970's before I acquired my first press. I never had a problem with any of the brands back then.

i agree with Walkalong, i dont want to buy some stuff that uncle jim bob did out back in his shed and tossed them in a zip lock bag or something

i figured buying from a place online like the one i listed would be ok or they would not be online but wanted to check
