I've been trying to find some 10mm brass for a while and finally found some used brass from Diamond K Brass. Ordered 500 pieces and during the check process found 57 pieces to be small primer. That sucks.
Two days later found new brass six cents cheaper each. Never again.

Good lesson. Use reputable vendor. Just bought .357 brass from vendor here. Much cheaper than new, few extra cases thrown in. Very happy.

One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch...

Also, just because small primer doesn't mean squat. MANY .45 acp cases are mixed between LPP and SPP. Federal is the worst for it. Sort them out
and use correct primer when time comes. That's better than giving bad rap to vendor that delivered what you agreed to buy.

I also load 10mm and am lucky that all my 10mm brass is LPP, but again, just because it's SPP doesn't mean you got ripped.

I didn't even know anyone made 10mm with small primers. I too would opt for it if I had the option for the extra strength.

Small primed brass is stronger.

98(ish)% of 10mm is LPP and has no problems. I would consider the
strength issue to be minicule. JMHO

It's being made with spp so that possibility is there. same goes for 45 brass. I actually prefer spp pocket when it comes to 45. easier to prime and a much wider array of primers available. with proper load workup, small rifle primers are safe to use in place of spp and spm. Im sure the majority(50%+) of boxer primed cartridges out there can be loaded with a small rifle primer.

If I cant track down LPP for less than $30/k to my door or locally in two months, im going to be cycling through my lot of spp 45 brass.

I ran across some Herters .45 Colt brass today with small pistol primers. That's a new one for me.

I have no problem with .45 acp brass with small primers, nor 10mm with small primers. I've got about 500 of the SP primed 10mm brass that I bought just because it was SP primed. I'm going to be using it in 9x25 Dillon with Small Rifle primers.

Hope this helps.

FYI keep a close eye at Starline's website. I just received an order from them less than 2 weeks ago (maybe ordered a month ago at most) for a 1,000 10mm brass. I usually try to check the website once or twice a week for anything I'm looking for since stock comes and goes rather fast from them.

Also just stumbled on this in the B/S/T's if you're looking for more brass:

Has the increased strength of the small primer brass been quantified, or is it just speculation that smaller hole = more brass = stronger?

10mm has a very strong case to begin with. Look at the SAMMI specs and you will see that it is rated for more pressure than 9mm, 40, and 357sig. Don't think a small pistol pocket will make it stronger just like it dosen't make the .45 stronger either. Its the web of the case where the strength needs to be.
I also never heard of a small primer pocket 10mm, but like others have said I do like the small pistol pocket .45 and I try to use it as much as I can. If I don't get it back who cares, or there are lots of fellow shooters who give it back to me with a sneer and a story about how it screwed them up while reloading on their progressive. Makes me feel special.

Starline brass is my only source for 10mm brass. Great stuff. Decent prices. They typically have a backorder, but they ship when they say they are going to.

The huge problem with small primed 10mm brass (or 45 auto) is having one inadvertently go through your progressive loader. If you aren't paying close attention (which you should be), trying to seat a large primer into a small pocket can lead to primer ignition.

I don't know. I will say that I avoid loading to excessive charge weights such that I NEED the additonal extra strength of a small primer 10mm case.

One of the problems with small primer 10mm is when about 50 are small and the other 950 are large, it's not worth changing the primer feed for the small. I'll just put them aside.
