OK, so I just got my big huge envelope of stuff from the ATF, so I opened it up to look at it...

small book, C&R list.
small book, federal regulations

huge book, state ordinances

personal firearms record pamphlet,

loss/theft reporting form

form for amending an FFL.

That's it... am i missing something here? wasn't the LICENSE supposed to be in this packet? What gives, guys?

You'd think if they were gonna mail that later they'd tell me.

James

You get that packate first, and then the license will come in the next couple of days.

Don't worry about it, that money for guns is going to be long gone pretty soon and quick :D.

thefitzvh,

I wouldn't worry about it (calling the center), I very well understand your excitment when getting the first packet, and then leaning that the license comes a few days behind it.....

I went through the same disappointment but the excitement when getting that second packet is well worth it :D.

Oh... and after i just left a message with the licensing center... boy i feel dumb.

Don't worry about it. The ATF makes mistakes too.

I sent them a form to amend (change my address) my C&R FFL. After forever I started receiving stuff to the new address but I never got the amended license. Had to call them and explain.

For more examples see Ruby Ridge, etc.

another question....

if the C&R list says "all original military bolt action and semiautomatic rifles manufactured between 1899 and 1946,"

would it be verboten under the AWB to purchase an old semiauto rifle that had assault features?

Can't think of any examples, other than select fire stuff, but it's an interesting question.

This can be a bit dangerous territory, so you should walk carefully. At least some old evil weapons are OK at the Federal levl--like the M1 carbine with folding stock and bayonet lug :D But some states enforce restrictions of their own.

Nice list Just bought a K31 from someone on this board, and when it arrived, the fedex guy wanted to stick around and see it :D

The K31 and CZ-52 are pretty good bargains right now. Garands are going high, high, high, but probably worth it. Keep a sharp eye out--I ran across "mine" at an estate auction and got it for $400.

Man, this is so much fun it should be illegal. OOPS! Did I say that?

where would one find an M1 carbine with a folding stock?

Cuz, i'll be moving to texas just in time for the sunset of the AWB... thus, the KALI rules will no longer apply.

Uh, I DO worry about it when they make mistakes!

That being said, I've been corresponding with a very nice lady from the ATF who has been nothing but prompt and courteous in answering my questions. She's obviously not from the JBT division of the ATF.

thefitzvh,

If their tradition holds true, you'll probably end up with another packet shortly before or after you get the actual license.

When I got mine I received three packets. Two before I got the license and another about a week afterwards.

I ended up with two more when I submitted a change of address.

I got my $30 worth in government publications alone!

:D

......I'd be happy to see the info packet show up......at least I'd know the license would be coming then....:uhoh: :( Still waiting just over two months..

I got the license first, then the packet a few days later. That was a couple of weeks ago, and now I have two MN 91/30's and a M44. Not buyng very fast, I know, but I'll get better. :)

Don't forget to send copies to Brownells and some others for your discounts on parts, etc. Sometimes as much as 20-25%.
