C&R inspector inspects my house?

You must have more BTAF agents in your area than we do, there are three to cover about 70,000 sq miles. Talked to one of ours and he said" we can't get the bad guys much less spend our time checking primises" The FFL that I work for has had a 01 FFL for 15+ years and he said he had seen the agent once after a breakin at the store.
I had a 03 FFL for years and never heard or seen an agent period.

Also, BATF does not provide the paperwork (bound book) to track your collection. You need to obtain or make one yourself.

That seems to be the way it used to be. A number of people in MD who have gotten their C&R since about May of this year I think have reported the ATF provided a bound book along with all the other literature that comes in the C&R package.
It is possible they started sending a bound book to new C&R FFLs before May, but that is about when I first started hearing of this.

No, they are not sending out a bound book. What is in the packet is a Personal Firearms Record. See the link:

Personal Firearms Record

This is not the "bound book" which is used to keep track of C&R firearms.

When I updated my license to move to a new city, I informed my CLEO, and sent in the paperwork. I received the amended license a couple of weeks later. THEN, I was contacted by my local PD regarding an inspection. The detective was polite, and so was I. I indicated that it was only a collector's license, and that I was not selling guns out of my house. He said he'd be in touch after a week or two, as he'd been busy with "real" cases.

As I was agonizing over the need and the authority for them to inspect a C&R Licensee's home (BTW, I could never come up with such authority from the multitude of sources I consulted), I began to wonder if it was worth the license (I only got it to save myself the cost of some ammo and supplies, and have only ever purchase three rifles with it). The detective called back after a couple of weeks and left me a message, saying that he wasn't going to bother with the inspection after all, since I had told him I had a safe and that I lived on the third floor and all. I didn't bother to follow up, but I suspect that he realized he was confusing the requirements for FFL01 and C&R licensee.

Bottom line is to be polite, and assert your rights at all times, even if there's nothing to hide.

Did the ATF tell you someone WILL do an inspection or MAY do an inspection?

Well, they actually didn't use either word if I remember correctly, but what they did say inferred "will".

I am familiar with that and I doubt the new C&R licensees meant that since this one was talking about a little bound book with his package and did not seem to be referring to the big sample page you linked to. http://www.mdshooters.com/showpost.php?p=10420&postcount=37

Now I have not seen this bound book with my own eyes and it is possible there was a misunderstanding, but like I said it "seems to be".

Does the OP live in Florida? Here in Mn no such nonsense occurs. Seems as though little by little Florida is "going NY". Sad to see. BTW... Did the law denying a person to have a firearm in their car in a parking lot of a posted building pass? That is screwed up.

Good luck with the inspection.

I got my C&R license a few months ago & haven't bought or sold any C&R weapons since. I've heard nothing from ATF or any other agency about an inspection.

My C&R didn't come with a BATFE inspector. I just buy them, log them in and shoot them. I keep all of my receipts, and I also keep a "mirror copy" of my bound book in my computer files - probably more likely to lose the "mirror copy" than the actual bound book though.............

My mirror was on a disc that got scratched fairly early, I kept meaning to back it up again.
The the Nekid Paris crash of 07 happened

First there was no such law presented for discussion
The law was to force owners of private property to allow firearms in their parking lots by employees
Second
If passing the Stand Your Ground law, decriminalizing switchblades, and being on the leading edge of not allowing the confiscation of firearms in emergency situations is being New Yorkish to you I would suggest that you visit New Yrk for a weekend

And mostly
Of all the C&R licensees I know in Fla. none have ever been visited by ATF for any reason

glad you mentioned that joab.

I saw a switchblade at the gunshow this weekend and thought to myself, "Wait a minute, is that legal?"

then I saw some more..... and more.... and finally found a guy selling knockoffs for $20.

I bought a generic brand (POS) switchblade for $20 just so I could say I own one. :) I'll never use it of course (see above about quality).... but it sits in my knife lock-box for giggles.

I figure one day it could make for a funny and dramatic opening of an envelope.

July 1 2001 Florida decided that a switchblade was an ordinary knife

I bought one of the more expensive stilettos I think it was about $75
It's still not suitable for daily use

I have a few of the cheap ones that look like regular folders that have lasted me a couple of years
