Hi,

I have fired my Mauser C96 a few hundred times, but now it's having a problem. After firing the first shot it recycles, but I am not getting tension back on my trigger. If I recock by hand my hammer a few times I again get tension on the trigger. What's happening? Sear, disconnector (although a bit loose) and other parts look ok. Dry firing it works flawlessly.

The trigger spring on the C96 is a flat spring that sits behind the magazine well; it is not connected to any of the other action parts. It sounds a bit like the trigger spring is broken or missing and that the tension you are getting is through the sear bar, not from the trigger spring. www.gunpartscorp.com has those trigger springs for around $30.

trigger spring is ok

The trigger spring is ok. After every cycle I have to cock the hammer a few times to feel tension on the triggerspring, but for the one shot after that the pistol works fine. Every thing else works. I personally think that the disconnector and/or the sear don't go back to the starting position, but I can't find a reason why these 2 parts would do that. No rough edges or something like that. The disconnector is a bit lose fitting (into the hole in the sear). I have a late production M30 (1936) and it is in almost new shape. The disconnector though has not a serial number on it, so perhaps it's a replacement. Any ideas?
