CA private ammo sales?

Can I advertise, then sell some ammo I have? It is just extra ammo in a caliber I'll not need. I also need to check Craigslist, who I'd like to use to sell it local face to face. I hope I can use Craigslist. I don't want to have to ship ammo.

I'll be selling my Mini 30 on consignment at a local shop and have over 400 rnds Wolf ammo.

It is unlawful for any person to sell ammunition or reloaded ammunition to a person under 18 years of age. (Penal Code § 12316(a)(1)(A).)

It is unlawful for any person to sell any ammunition or reloaded ammunition designed and intended for use in a handgun to a person under 21 years of age. Where ammunition or reloaded ammunition may be used in both a rifle and a handgun it may be sold to a person who is at least 18 years of age, but less than 21 years of age, if the vendor reasonably believes that the ammunition is being acquired for use in a rifle and not a handgun. (Penal Code § 12316(a)(1)(B).)

Obviously if the buyer is prohibited from possessing a firearm (such as a felon, etc) they are prohibited from possessing ammunition as well.

Correct. But let's not confuse the armor piercing restriction with the age restriction.

7.62x39 steel core "armor piercing" ammo is banned by the ATF because it can be used in a handgun. (So, in reality, you would think that any steel core ammo would be banned, but some isn't.)

The fact that a certain caliber of ammo can be used in a handgun, though, has no bearing on the age limit, because the age limit applies to the intended use of the ammo by the buyer. I can buy 9mm ammo at the age of 18 if I intend to use that ammo in a rifle.
