I finally received the last portion of an order originally placed in early May of 2009. I had ordered a selection of primers (7,000 primers for rifle and pistol) and powder (5 pounds), all had indicated a 3-4 week backorder at that time. The earliest arrival was some powder in about 5 months, then some primers and the rest of the powder after about 7 months, then some more primers (9 months), just got the last 1000 primers on Friday. Despite the multiple shipments I was only charged for shipping and hazmat fees once (as if the original order had been shipped altogether), and they of course honored the prices from the time of the order - a bit lower than their current prices. I guess the lesson is that if you want to have something in the pipeline and are comfortable with a long wait there is no harm in ordering from Cabelas - no charges until your stuff is shipped, and they absorb the expense of multiple shipments and hazmat fees (or at least did for orders placed last May!) I wish their backorder timeframes were accurate, but I can't complain about the eventual results.

I'm not waiting a year for any order...

And I predict I will live through yet another one of these odd election/gun cycles too. Seems to happen every decade or so. :)
